I doubt Hood was ever a 4.4 guy. Every recruit claims to run one, very few do. And since he's never been considered a burner, I doubt he ever ran a legit one, no matter what is claimed. He has very good speed though.
There's something to everyone only labeling him a corner outfielder. He's definitely got the natural athleticism, and even some experience tracking a ball in the air. Maybe he doesn't get great jumps or take great routes to the ball. He is still relatively raw to the OF, since he was mostly a SS in high school.
He also does not have a cannon for an arm. I remember watching videos of him as a high school kid, and he had a funky motion, and average at best arm. Im sure his mechanics have been refined with the switch to the OF, but it hasn't uncovered a gun.
I think he's definitely a left fielder at the MLB level. I have big hopes for him though. I think he should be a 20/20 guy, and the power could be closer to 30 when all is said and done.
I could see Hunter type offensive production, maybe even a tad more power. But he definitely doesn't have the defensive value, so he won't be quite as special overall.
It'll be interesting to see if he gets off to a fast start if he gets a promotion to Syracuse. It'd be nice to see a big year from him, and push himself into contention for a spot in 2013.
