Opening Day Lineup Watch
« Topic Start: March 22, 2012, 11:31:08 AM »
Per Amanda Comak, Davey says Morse is in danger of missing OD and that he'll likely throw Lombo & DeRosa into the mix.  LaRoche is expected to start some activity this weekend but could also miss OD.

Could we be looking at:

1. Desmond-6
2. Espinosa-4
3. Zimmerman-5
4. DeRosa-3
5. Werth-9
7. Ankiel-8
8. Ramos-2
9. Lombo-7
9. Strasburg-9

That gives us LH bats against Garza at the 2, 7, and 9 slots.  Maybe Strasburg bats 8th?

How much time will Morse miss while trying to complete the Tour de France?

DeRosa batting cleanup? Holy crap. Lombo an everyday OFer? No way.

Damn shame that Marrero is hurt, we could use him.

I would put DeRosa at 1B I guess, Maybe someone like Carrol in LF?

honestly, i think at least one of LaRoche/Morse is healthy enough for OD ... and the way Morse is saying how good he feels, maybe both (especially b/c it sounds like LaRoche is close).

for those that don't know davey, he's been doing this thing for years (w/ the o's and mets, etc).  he likes to hold out some of the veterans (and prized prospects) in spring just to be cautious.  hell he sent home derosa yesterday just so he wouldn't have to sit around for three hours and risk injuring the wrist.

I'm guessing Tracy makes the club as well and could see a good amount of time at 1B.  Maybe Tracy batting clean-up/1B and DeRosa in LF on OD?

Rizzo screwed up. Bad idea to rely on Adam LaRoche. We needed to make a move for a 1B/OF and we didn't do it. And now it's biting us in the ass. With the likes of Tracy, Carrol, Lombardozzi, DeRosa being mentioned as starters this will not end well.

It is so bad, we have 2 #9 hitters and no #6 hitter!

Ramos I think would hit 4 or 5th.  Maybe something like this is less of an eyesore:

1. Lombo 7
2. DeRosa 3 (Tracy?)
3. RZ  5
4. Ramos 2
5. Werth 9
6. Espinosa 4
7. Desmond 6
8. Ankiel 8
9. Strasburg 1

If it is Tracy, that'd be S - L - R -R - R -S- -R- L.

More likely would be:

Desmond
Espinosa
RZ
Tracy
Werth
Ankiel
Ramos
Bernie

We're seriously discussing Chad Tracy... and it's not 2005.

I could not agree more. Going into ST with 2 Major Leaguers in the outfield. Bad plan.

At least we haven't Patterson'd anyone yet this year.

What happened to all those people during the offseason who were pitching sunshine and rainbows?

We all assumed Morse would be healthy.  We will still be SSS next year, only we will say, "now with morse and RZ healthy, plus Bryce for a full year, there's no way the offense will not be better!!"  It is the extra ! that makes it different.

We've decided to give up on the season.

We'll be back - in two years.

i'm so tired of talking about the next year, before the current season begins.

that falls on ownership/front office.

I'm fine with it, we've gotten better the last 2 years.  I want us to keep getting better.  85 wins this year, 95 next year, 105 the year after that.
