I think if you stay the course then the Nationals lose all the ground the gained this year.

Like I'm scared to death this team is going to collapse after this. Spring Training is going to miserable.

Seriously. I am. After that, yeah

I used to be a freaky optimist with the Redskins, but Jim Zorn's second year broke me.

I used to be an optimist with the Caps, but this season ended that.

I just don't think I'll be able to ever be an eternal optimist after that. The fairy tale is over for the Washington Nationals.

How did the farm develop this season? Do we have the depth to pull another Gio type trade?

Hah, the '99 Redskins broke me way early; the Zornskins just made me lose interest in the Redskins in general.

just go after high priced talent.

hamilton.  greinke.  trade 17 prospects for a 2nd baseman.

we'll win it all next year.

Seriously. This group has their opportunity to prove themselves under the bright lights.

And they failed miserably.

Here is my very preliminary list of offseason ideas:

1: Let Edwin go.
2: Dangle Espinosa in trade talks, but if no one bites, have him on a very short leash.
3: More playing time for Tyler Moore, possibly by trading Morse.
4: Sign Laroche.
5: Back end of the bullpen help. Jonathan Broxton is a personal favorite of mine. Ryan Madson and Joakim Soria would be interesting targets too.

With the luck of DC sports, Hamilton will relapse, Greinke's social anxiety disorder will return, and the 2nd basemen will tear his ACL.

DC is DOOMED.

By the way, as the official keeper of the factions due to my LEGO thing, I hereby declare the LoD to be reinstated.

In response to me last post: Regardless, open the checkbook, Lerner.  Get Hamilton, Greinke, and the BEST BULLPEN MEN (men, as in, more than one) available.  Cut the bullcrap.  Win the World Series first, worry about everything else later.

Mostly agree, but I can't stand Broxton.  Soria doesn't have much postseason experience so he could easily pull a Storen.  That leaves Madson - idk about his numbers this season but he's definitely the type we could use.

Madson didn't even play this season, but he'd be an upgrade over most of what we have.

Madson missed all of this year with TJ, and Soria missed most of this year with TJ too. Soria has looked shaky the past couple of years and he really wants to stay in KC, so I'd remove him from the list. I mentioned Madson due to his track record and because ex-Phils seem to like it here.

As far as relievers go, I'd make Broxton, Madson, and Koji Uehara my top targets.

I really want Trevor Rosenthal from St. Louis, but that's not going to happen.

MLBTR says that it is a $3.5 million mutual option. Mutual options rarely get picked up, but I think it makes sense here.

Espinosa has good WAR.  They would NEVER pass him up.

Can a mod rename this the 2012/2013 offseason thread, because as of now it is the offseason.
