Kinda thought some of the discussion would have ended up at MASN or other locations. Nuttin' yet.

His father Mark Patrick was the host of "Baseball this Morning" on XM 175 for most of its existence since inception, until the Sirius merger when they started cutting back a lot.  I had exchanged emails with Mark a couple of times back a few years ago, and when Drew was drafted by the Nats, I reached out again to Mark.

After Collin's chat, it dawned on me that in many ways both guys are similar - easy going and outwardly friendly, and I thought it would be a good match, so I asked Mark what he thought, and he put me in touch with Drew.

Oh nice. But the pressing question: Why does his dad have a different last name than him?

Don't know, and would consider it inappropriate to ask.

Uninformed speculation -many radio / TV personalities adopt a stage name to throw stalkers off the trail, or it could be a marital situation.

Mark talked about Drew on occasion from when Drew was barely in high school.  But because of the name difference, I didn't make the connection till after the draft, when it was mentioned in media reports.

:hurr:

Calsgr8 mentioned the incorrect link to the site on MASN's main page in her comments on the Storen story, and the woman who posted the original story responded asking about which link...  didn't see Calsgr8 respond so I responded.  Hopefully that will be taken care of.

After reading that I tried to find the famous broken link, but could not find it. Does it still exist?

http://www.masnsports.com/

Scroll down to "NATIONALS SITES & BLOGS" and mouse over "Nationals Fan Forum" (which isn't really the best name either) and the link shown is - http://www.nationalsforum.net/index.php?PHPSESSID=f554366be838afc23b29a610e052afed;www

Not only is that the old domain name (all links on the site point to wnff.net now) but the URL also includes an invalid session.  Harmless, but totally unnecessary.

All in all it could be worse, there is a link, and it does more or less bring one here, but it definitely could stand to be updated.  As I've mentioned in the past, I have sent multiple requests to MASN via their contact link on the main page.

When I click it, it brings me right to the first page here.  Technogobbeldygook aside, what's wrong with that?

Like I said, it could be worse.  A link titled "WNFF" or "Washington Nationals Fan Forum" that goes to "http://www.wnff.net" would be best, though.

It's just bad form, okay? :P

Stage name?

It seems that is the case.  It could also be his first and middle name, and he's leaving off the last name for reasons Tom mentioned.

Quote
By the way his name is Mark Storen, Mark Patrick is his stage name so to speak. I happen to live in Brownsburg and was involved for a number of years with the Indiana Bulls so I had the oppotunity to work with and get to know Mark to some degree. At least enough when we see each other in Wal-Mart we can talk on first name basis.
Mark Patrick no longer on BBTM - RedsZone.com - Cincinnati Reds Fans' Home for Baseball Discussion

Confirmed at the source, it is Mark Patrick Storen, father of Drew Patrick Storen.

Bummer he left XM radio. Scott Graham is all fine and good, but BBTM misses Mark "Patrick" dearly.

@Kristen,

The link CALSGR8 is referring to is on the main MASN page on the righthand side under "Nationals Sites & Blogs". The current title is "Nationals Fan Forum" and the link is http://www.nationalsforum.net/index.php?PHPSESSID=f554366be838afc23b29a610e052afed;www which points to our old URL and an invalid session. If at all possible, it would be great if the MASN web team could update this to "WNFF" or "Washington Nationals Fan Forum" with a link of http://www.wnff.net Thanks a bunch!

I passed it on to our editor to fix. Thanks for the heads up!
