He's been slumping pretty badly lately after a fantastic first half of the season. Does anyone else think it's possible that he's wearing down? He's only 20 years old and this is his first year of full season pro ball.

That was kicked around a bit on this thread. I agree its probably jsut wear and tear from his first full season in the MD heat. Note that some idiot got Norris's age wrong.

He's still been getting BB's so thats a good sign that even in a slump he can contribute...

13/9 BB/K last 10 games, with 3 walks last night, and his OPS is still .932

looks like he's being pitched around more than falling into a slump

Should push him up to Potomac and let him play 1st base and DH. Challenge him, get him some AB's against better competition while lessening the wear on his body by giving him a rest from catching. I know he needs work fielding his position, but he's not going to work on it the past couple weeks of the season. Get him the best experience you can with the bat, and wait until instructional league to get back to the defensive work. He may end up at 1B anyway, so some familirity right now wouldn't hurt him either.

He's one of the few bright spots in our hitting areas that I've been watching. I'm looking forward to watching him progress through the system. While, I'm not a huge Storen fan, his stats prove that he will be on the roster if not in September out of spring training.

If he is actually wearing down, I wonder if sending him to the AFL is the best idea. I would love to see him play in the AFL and I would like to think that the minor league staff has done its due diligence in making sure he is good to go for the fall, but I'm a bit surprised that they are tacking another month of play onto this kid's schedule after his first full professional season. I understand that he gets a bit of time off between the end of milb and the beginning of AFL, but it would seem more prudent to allow the kid to rest his body up the entire off-season. Just my two cents, as I do understand the reasons why they would want to send him to Arizona.

I heard somewhere that he seems to be emerging from the slump. Is this true? If it is, then depending on his prgress, would it warrant a callup to Harrisburg?

Harrisburg? He's still in Hagerstown. He wouldn't jump from low A ball to AA.

He's batting .242 over his last 10 games but has 14 BBs to 10 Ks over that stretch.

on the season his line is .290/.410/.523 which is impressive.

I would have promoted him to Potomac a long time ago but obviously they felt that he still needs to improve his defense.

Would have been nice to bump him up to Potomac to give them a chance to make the playoffs. They could really use him.

Really? I was sure he was in Potomac...

I think they should just switch his position now, to one of the corner OF spots. He won't be ready for a couple of years anyway, and by then, Willingham will probably be gone.

That is where I believe he will eventually end up. Although, I don't know what kind of fielder he is, but the move would seem logical if he doesn't work it out behind the plate.

True, but we don't really know if Norris will be better than Flores. He's doing really well, but he is in Low A ball. I certainly hope he is, but at some point it would make sense to move him to say RF.

he belongs in AAA promote him

i'm obviously JK but if he wants to move up he has to stop this crap. he's obviously one of our best prospects, but c'mon now derek ya gotta be better than this.
