Most hated college basketball players in history.

http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/9038798/a-tournament-determine-most-hated-college-basketball-players-last-30-years

Laettner and Iverson in the final with Laettner the win by double digits.   Must say players and the programs were the parlay.

Over Laettner?  I've never seen so many people hate anyone as much as him, not even Reddick.

Definition of "smarmy".

No Terps or 'hoos in the list.  I was trying to think of someone who would rank.  "hoos who come to mine -  Olden Polynice was a bit of a loser (stealing stereos from a UVA dorm room) but this list is for in-game offenses.  Lee Raker was a physical, dirty player (sharp elbows and not afraid to use them against generally smaller players around him).

Terps?  Mostly  :halo:

Polynice also was busted more than once for impersonating an officer, right?

Unfortunately (fortunately?),  UVA hasn't been relevant in the past 20+ years to warrant any hate.

As for UMD as an opposing fan, I was never big on Steve Francis, Steve Blake or Juan Dixon because they usually killed UVA... But none of them really did anything to get a national following of hate.

Edit... Oh wait, the guy that always pissed me off the most had to be Vasquez. That guy never stopped talking! Turned into quite the NBA player, though.

He pissed me off plenty too - pass the ball you mo!

But the way he  :poke: opposition fans was highly entertaining.  Definitely kept things lively.

What you did there, I see it.

I loved Vasquez too, most of the time anyway. I can see why others wouldn't like him though.

The ACC, Big East, and Notre Dame just announced that Notre Dame will join the ACC effective this July 1 (and will not pay an exit fee to the Big East). 15-team basketball schedule next year. Potentially tough group: In the current AP poll, you have Duke (#2), Miami (#9), Pittsburgh (#17), Syracuse (#19), Notre Dame (#24), and UNC (others receiving votes); NC State and UVA had decent seasons this year as well. I'm not counting Louisville at #4 in the rankings because they won't join until at least 2014, but it's kind of amusing that for all the hype about ACC basketball, of the current or future league members currently in the Top 25, only one (Duke) is a "traditional" ACC member and the others are all Big East transplants.

UNC being out of the top 25 is an oddity so I don't worry too much about that. Besides, I'm a B1G fan now... Sigh

Evidently Maryland was made an offer they couldn't refuse. Wonder what the terms are?

big 10 network is a cash cow, Maryland helps them argue to get in on carriers in the DC Metro area (same with Rutgers and NY), in return, your football team gets slaughtered and your basket ball team gets to play unwatchable games (at least ND is going to the ACC not big 10)

True, although I hardly consider Miami a Big East transplant anymore.

I don't expect football to be great but I do expect improvement. Hell, is going to be that much different than what we are used to? As for bball, I think your over doing it a bit. I don't see the Terps suddenly changing their style, if anything, I expect the other teams to have try to match up to us. We have a lot of talent and.more coming.

hopefully, the pre shot clock style of a lot of big 10 schools is just awful to watch (then again ND is the worst of them, and they're heading to the ACC)

The Big 10 is more of a bruiser conference (like the Big East).   They'll pound on MD early to see if they can take it.   They'll try to push the new kid around.   I think the refs will let them.    The Big 10 will be surprised at how big/strong MD is.    Turgeon will coach 'em up on that style.   He's played it, seen it and coached it.   It's gonna be a great ride.

Having just gone through the transition, the Big Ten will change Maryland before Maryland changes the Big Ten.  Maryland doesn't necessarily need to change their style, but they are going to need to get better at whatever style they want to play.
