Pedro Astacio, RHP (1-1, 5.19)Astacio, who is making only his third start of the season, will face the Pirates for the 18th time in his career. He is 8-4 with a 5.03 ERA against them. In his last start, Astacio lasted 3 2/3 innings and gave up five runs -- four earned ? against the Padres.

Ian Snell, RHP (8-6, 4.74)Snell, the winningest pitcher on the Pirates staff, was superb in earning his eighth victory of the season July 7 against the Phillies. Snell baffled Phillies hitters for seven innings, getting them to chase pitches off the plate to the tune of six strikeouts. The 24-year-old right-hander has been streaky of late, however, as the Philadelphia game broke a three-game losing streak, which had followed a five-game winning streak. Snell has not faced the Nationals yet this season.
