It'll never happen.  I'm probably not the first to make this connection - but Trout is the next Salmon.

Nice catch!

Bryce could miss Friday's game to rest his sore back:

http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20120607&content_id=32934452&vkey=news_mlb&c_id=mlb

WASHINGTON -- The Nationals received a scare Thursday afternoon when Bryce Harper appeared to aggravate his sore back late in a 3-1 loss to the Mets. With one out in the top of the ninth inning, Mets third baseman David Wright blooped the ball to short right field. Harper, who had switched over from center field in the sixth, charged hard after the ball and dove for it, but was unsuccessful. After throwing the ball into the cutoff man, Harper went back down to the ground in apparent pain.

"When he dove for the ball, I thought he just knocked the wind out of himself," Washington manager Davey Johnson said. "That predominately was the case. He also has been nursing a kind of tender back. So we'll have to monitor him pretty close." Johnson added that Harper had been receiving treatment, a previously unheard revelation.

Harper, for his part, repeatedly insisted after the game that he was fine. "[It was] kind of sore, I was just trying to take a minute," Harper said. "I'm good. I'm totally fine to play, and I won't be out of the lineup." Later, Harper was asked when he initially hurt his back. He responded, "I didn't hurt it. I'm good. Don't worry about it, I feel great."

Harper finished the game 0-for-4 with two strikeouts, dropping his average to .276.

Another Harper-Trout comparison:

http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/Washington-Nationals-rookie-Bryce-Harper-continues-to-make-impression-on-teammates-060612

The salient part:

Quote
“I just try to come out here and play my game. Trout’s in the other league. I’m trying to play my game. He’s playing his game. Who knows? Maybe we’ll play together one day. Maybe he’ll come to DC.”

Harper smiles.

“I don’t want to leave here, I can tell you that.”

You want to see him hit a liner off the wall that reaches the 2nd baseman on the fly?  Ok, I'd like to see that too but it's not going to get his total bases stat elevated.

If he knocks one through a scoreboard panel, is that just a ground rule double?

His opposite field single today with 2 strikes against him and two outs against a lefty specialist was just outstanding.  His home run was great - but I was equally impressed with the single.  He's 19 years old and maybe 30 games into his big league career - it's unbelievable how good this guy is to be able to do things like that.

Not if the leftfielder's glove and arm get carried through the panel with the ball.

I am starting to believe that the advantage we have over the Braves when it comes to ultimately winning the NL East is, indeed, Bryce Harper.

He's destroying lefties.  I didn't see that coming at all, given his minor league struggles against them.

I didn't either, but it actually makes a lot of sense. Lefties tend to struggle against lefties when they can't pick up the break on their pitches. They say vision is often an issue in the minors because of poor lighting or awkward batter's eyes. I bet Bryce is enjoying improved vision of pitches in the big leagues and the result is newfound success against lefties as a pro.

I believe that is what Ray Knight said explains why some guys bit better in the bigs than in AAA.

One day, in an extra inning game, where we are running out of bench and bullpen players, Bryce will take over as catcher... AND simultaneously... as pitcher too He is fast!
Evidence that this could happen one day:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/nationals-journal/post/nationals-interested-in-cuban-defector-jorge-soler/2011/11/15/gIQAjsIBPN_blog.html

"...In 2007, DiPuglia was scouting an international youth tournament game in Mexico. The Cuban team, led by [Jorge] Soler, played the U.S. team led by a 15-year-old named Bryce Harper.  “They were by far the two best players on the field,” DiPuglia said. The game went to extra innings, at which point international rules dictated runners be placed on first and second base. Harper was pitching for the United States – “he was throwing 92, 93,” DiPuglia said – and Soler came to the plate.

The U.S. coach ordered Harper to walk Soler. “Harper wanted to pitch to him,” DiPuglia said. “They started going at it with hand gestures. Soler was telling him he wanted to hit, Harper was going back at him. He had to walk him. I’m sure Bryce would remember facing him.” We’re still a long from knowing if Harper and Soler will be reunited with the Nationals, but Soler is a name to keep in mind..."

...and better starting pitching.  I think our pen is deeper too, though their closer is better.

Plus I'd take Davey Johnson 10 times out of 10 over Fredi Gonzalez.
