It is possible to win a game like this 1-0.  But I have a feeling that Bergmann is going to hit a home run.

seriously...this is not THAT much of surprise - he did the same thing the last time he played the Braves.  Whatever his characteristic of pitching is - it appears to be especially effective vs. the Braves lineup.

He probably means what happened to him between last season and this season.  Last year Bergmann was pretty awful in the bullpen.

yes it appears to be an exact replica of the last time these two went at it.

wow, so pathetic.. Only 1 hit for both teams combined after 5 innings.   :-[

edit: Smoltz has only thrown 54 pitches through 5.

I will agree with that most definately...he's matured alot since last year.

that's what good ole fashioned hard work will do!  He worked all off season to prepare to be like this!

Every time you post that is considered a JINX.  Hinting is NOT allowed in the world of jinxes... and you STILL owe me one hot babe.

Bergmann was left out there repeatedly when he was getting shelled last year, to LEARN - by trial and error - how to BEAT major league batters.  We quit on winnable games to let him do this, (which made me mad at the time), to get ourselves another starter.  But it's now paying off.  He WAS striking out 2 batters for every walk last year, which told us that he COULD succeed.

Atlanta has no hits...the only hit of the game was Guzman's triple.

Guzman! He has really helped this team. How about a double from Zimm now.
