If Gio gets the first pitch over for a strike, he's money.

Yeah I think the average goes down to like .180 when he goes 0-1

Zim talks about today's game.

-----------
"If we had lost that game," Zimmerman said, "it would've been hard for me to sleep tonight."

...

"That was one of my worst games," he said. "But, we won. So I don't even remember it anymore."
---------

Zim shows again why he is such a fan favorite.

Nice call by FP predicting the wild pitch.

Good teams make the opponent pay for mistakes. Good teams pat their lead in the standings by mercilessly beating up on bad teams.

So far, the Nats are doing both of those things. There's more to being a good team than that, of course, but so far so good.

I haven't seen this team beating up on anybody.  They need to start finding a way to produce runs themselves because I'm starting to get pretty optimistic about what the pitching is capable of.

Comparative dates on which the Nationals notched their 5th win, each season:

2012 - 12th April (7th match of season)
2011 - 12th April (10th match)
2005 - 13th April (9th match)
2010 - 16th April (10th match)
2006 - 18th April (14th match)
2007 - 18th April (15th match)
2008 - 18th April (17th match)
2009 - 29th April (20th match)

Dang, that's awesome.

Damn, so this is only the second time we've been over .500 after just our fifth win in eight years. That's depressing, to think six of eight years we were under .500 when we notched win number five, but a Damn good sign this year. Numerous uno in the NL East, baby! Suck on that, Fidelity loving Marlin's jerk!

Now, now, before we go printing up the NL Champion banner let's get a couple of more months into the season.  That said, yesterday was unreal.

Fun game!

I was sort of upset hammonds and I didn't run into any WNFFers. Only a matter of time until we do.

Apologies if it's been already mentioned, but yesterday's announced attendance of 40,907 is seventh-highest in Nats Park history - it's also the best-ever Nats Park attendance at a match not involving the Phillies or Red Sox - the top 10:

44,685   Saturday 20th August 2011 vs Phillies
41,985   Thursday 25th June 2009 vs Red Sox
41,727   Sunday 21st August 2011 vs Phillies
41,530   Wednesday 24th June 2009 vs Red Sox
41,517   Tuesday 23rd June 2009 vs Red Sox
41,290   Monday 5th April 2010 vs Phillies [season/home opener]
40,907   Thursday 12th April 2012 vs Reds [home opener]
40,386   Monday 13th April 2009 vs Phillies [home opener]
40,325   Friday 18th June 2010 vs White Sox [Strasburg start]
40,315   Tuesday 8th June 2010 vs Pirates [Strasburg debut]
