When did Taylor pass Souza?

Some excerpts:

Taylor
Quote
What Happened in 2014: After some more middling seasons in the low minors, Taylor exploded this past year in Double-A, where he posted a .935 OPS and dropped 22 bombs before a brief call up to the majors.

Overall Future Potential: High 6; first-division player/occasional all-star

Realistic Role: 5; average major leaguer

Souza
Quote
What Happened in 2014: The outfielder continued to show that his career is back on track this past season, where he unleashed an onslaught of power and speed on the International League and got his first taste of The Show.

Overall Future Potential: High 5; solid-average regular

Realistic Role: High 4; fourth outfielder/below-average regular

Taylor
Souza

So it was this year.

Taylor passed Souza, but he also passed Goodwin for the role he's more suited for (Span's).

Souza hitting that fence may be the best thing that ever happened to Taylor's career path.

I can't help but wonder if they have to compete with one another for Hairston's job in Spring Training.

Taylor should start the year in AAA and only get recalled in the event of an outfielder injury or Span trade.

Because he didn't spend all that much time in AAA last year and could use more experience. It's not like he lit up the majors in his call-up anyway. No need to rush a guy who may not be ready when we have a guy in Souza who clearly is ready and who can serve a larger role. (Assuming that Souza can play first.)

Agree about the playing first, but Souza also didn't light up the majors.  Taylor was better in every category except HR.

I know...small sample sizes.

Another thing is that Souza clearly has no need for more minor league experience. He has killed it in AAA. It's time to see what he can do in the majors, whereas, again in a small sample, Taylor did not kill it in AAA.

Agreed, Souza's ready now to contribute, let Taylor season a bit more.
