Andrew Miller, Troy Patton, Brian Matusz, Donnie Veal, Brian Duensing, Wesley Wright, Brad Mills,  Josh Outman, are just a few guys that I view as tradable.

It would be pretty silly on the Nats part to part with prospects for a LHP in a trade when silly hat/Gorzo/Gonzo would have only cost money to retain.

I really disliked that Gorzelanny wasn't tendered a contract. But, they must feel secure with Zach Duke.

For those panicked about the Nats' lack of LHRs: Lefties have hit .214 against Mattheus in his career, and .186 against Clippard.

Shhh shhh ... no logic here. Only reactions!!

Marlins assistant GM Dan Jennings told JimBo that while they aren't shopping Stanton, they will listen to offers. Go get him.

Put Werth at first. If you can get Stanton, which I doubt we could, you make room for him.

Slipping my mind again, but didn't RZO mention Werth playing first at some point?

A few years down the road, if he slows down in the outfield.

*If* we were to acquire Stanton at some point, he would be the one who moves to first considering he has missed time with knee problems and with his size those problems will likely continue.  You make room for players like him.  The fish want a stud 3B, stud OF, and pitching, pitching and more pitching.  That means that any offer we put together would have to include Rendon and Goodwin.  To get more prospects to send to Miami we would likely need to make it a 3 team deal and ship Morse and/or Espinosa/lombo to mystery team and send mystery team's prospects to Miami.

They might want Tyler Moore and Corey Brown, too.  We have some position players that could make up the core of a deal but not much pitching.

ZDK - I agree about probably putting Stanton at 1B just to keep him healthy and keep his bat in the lineup.

Done. I'd trade all that for Giancarlo Stanton

Watch the Diamondbacks trade for him.  They are going to put 4 guys in right field on defense.

so he'll stand behind Zimm and we'll have two 1st basemen?

1. Detroit Tigers
The rotation of Justin Verlander, Max Scherzer, Doug Fister and Anibal Sanchez and Rick Porcello took the Tigers to the World Series, and they could be even better in 2013. Verlander is generally regarded within the industry as the best pitcher on the planet, Fister is coming back from a season in which he was nagged by an oblique injury, and the Tigers will benefit from a full season of Sanchez, who was re-signed to an $80 million deal.

So yeah ESPN ranked the Tigers as the best rotation in baseball.  Bullcrap.

Verlander>Strasburg     This could be very close though

Scherzer<Gio                 Scherzer is good but he isn't Gio.  Winning third place in Cy Young voting speaks for itself.

Fister<Zimmermann      Again not all that close.  Fister is good but just not as good as Jordan.

Sanchez=Haren             If Haren comes back healthy he should be as good or better than Sanchez for a fraction of the price.

Porcello<<<<Detwiler   Porcello blows but still finds himself on a division contending team.  Detwiler is the best 5 in baseball.

We win.

5, Rendon when his ankles wont allow for lateral movement, skole when he moves off third, and Moore- no errant throw will ever get by, but there may be some holes elsewhere

"And the Washington Nationals take the field with the unorthodox four first basemen infield alignment."  Werth plays next to the bag.  Zimm plays off it at the edge of the grass.  Rendon plays in to protect against bunts, and Skole stands in foul territory to chase pop-ups.  Desmond and Espinosa can cover the rest of the infield, with Span and Harper covering the OF.  Our pitchers will have to catch their own throws.

Only one problem.  The only player who can be positioned in foul territory is the catcher, other than that, it looks good.  :)

This is the first time in the history of Washington D.C. sports that the baseball team and the football team both won their divisions in the same calendar year.
