Barbas quest is pretty funny.

I'm still crushing every enemy. Upping the difficulty.

Morrowind is on sale on Steam for $10 if anyone is interested in that, I believe it also comes with 2 xpacs.

Xbox 360. I may just get it tonight, looks like too much fun to wait and $60 is worth it.

Trust me...it is worth it. This game is simply amazing.

Morrowind was a kick ass game. That was my first Elder Scrolls game. I got the game of the year edition on the original XBOX. I put some hours into that game. BTW, Morrowind was an extremely hard to beat. Much harder than Oblivion or Skyrim.

I've found that the default difficulty keeps up and (at least as a pure mage) forces you to get more inventive with your attack plan rather than just running in shooting fireballs, but I would tend to agree that it's not particularly challenging.  That said, I don't want my first playthrough to be a grind/endurance test.  I'm just going to enjoy being a badass for now and I'll try the next notch up on my next playthrough.

Ditto for first TES game, though I played it on PC (got a free copy with a video card).  I both agree and disagree in that Morrowind was extremely difficult early on, but as you got higher leveled and gained access to enchantments and powerful magic, it became laughably easy.  I have clear memories of enchanting a ring that shot giant exploding fireballs and pretty much one or two-shot just about anything.

Oblivion was the worst of the three in that things never really got difficult, but they did get extremely tedious.  Enemies weren't hard, but they would just level to the point of taking forever to kill.

So far, Skyrim definitely strikes the best balance.  There are "zones" of different difficulty, and also some moderate scaling of enemy difficult along with the player.  That combined with the overall more advanced combat, stealth, and magic systems makes for an experience that scales pretty well without becoming a total joke or a clickspam snoozefest.

At least that's my take at level 30 with 75 hours played :-[

Note for fans of Dwemer sites:

Mzulft is a location you'll visit for part of the Mage's college storyline and is simply awesome.  And freaking huge.  And filled with loot.  And a very cool pair of rooms at the end.

Just found out that Wes Johnson does alot of the voice acting on the Elder Scrolls games. He's the P.A. announcer for the Capitals. Pretty cool huh? He did the "stop right there criminal scum" line in Oblivion (see below). That's probably my favorite line in the whole series. He's also the voice of Shenogorath in Oblivion and Skyrim.

The fact that they make you go to the jail anyway even when you pay the fine has got to be one of my biggest TES pet peeves.  Just take the money and get out of my face, jerk.

I just contracted vampirism, but I cured myself using a cure disease potion. I did the vampire thing in Oblivion, but didn't really care for it too much. I am looking forward to turning into a werewolf in Skyrim.

Sometimes I regret being an all powerful dunmer master of the magickal arts.  I feel like I'm discriminated against by the damned racist Nords.

I'm an elf as well. The Nords are so racist. The shop owner in Whiterun said something about being busy in his store and that he ought to purchase one of my relatives to do the work. I think he's a Breton though, but I've heard other comments from Nords. The people in Falkreath were particularily nasty to me.
