A story is starting to emerge about the Orioles that may have them involved in something shady in Korea.

The Korean pitcher they recently signed was apparently not very highly thought of by other teams. The scout who recommended him has a history of signing players from that part of the world. He apparently worked with Duquette before with the Red Sox when the Red Sox signed several guys to 6 and 7 figure contracts that ended up as busts.
Looks pretty shady.
What it looks like is they got snookered by the scout, who was getting a kickback from the family for pumping up the bonus. The implication in the article is that he has a track record of convincing teams to ante up for guys who never make it.
