That's not a real Specialized, sounds like he had a frame built to that geometry and added the stickers to it.  Other than the price, I'm really curious why he's including the wheels with this. They could be knockoffs too, but I'm not real familiar with those wheels.

I'm not doubting you, but how can you tell?

I've seen it before - if you notice in the description he actually mentions the manufacturer that made the frame for specialized. That's a really odd thing to mention.

When I was looking up my old Ross bike it was common for folks to note not only the frame manufacturer but the place of final assembly, as there were several of each.

Not that I would have known the difference, or really care, but my bike was "built" in the US, at a time when virtually everyone had moved to Japan.

I've probably spent $2,500 on cycling stuff in 2012. There's no way I spent less than that in medicine, doctors appointments, and fast food three years ago in the same time period. ;)

Still breaking in.  Probably need to put another 100 miles on it before it starts form fitting.

Only managed 15 miles today due to the heat. Well, for once I listened to my body and called it a day once I ran out of Stinger waffles and water money.  Still, not too shabby for a guy pushing four bills after talking two weeks off due to injuries. Peep this map:

No you don't.  That's the starting point that I always use when I turn Strava on.  I could turn it on next to JCAs house if I wanted to or AtBC if I wanted to start in Honkyville.

Serious question: Is there a good way to get from the Vienna Metro to the Crystal City Metro via bicycle? (not riding on the Metro). If so, how long would it take?

You could take the W&OD Trail but it's going to be a pretty long ride - 15 miles one way.

Getting to W&OD will probably take 20 minutes from where I live. So what am I looking at after that?

You're probably looking at a 90+ minute door to door adventure everyday.

W&OD runs along I-66 (it may be called the Martha Custis Trail), so there is no car traffic.  It goes into Rosslyn, where you can get to Crystal City via the bike path next to the GW Parkway

It's probably 15 miles from Vienna to Crystal City so unless you plan on keeping a racing speed (~15mph) you spend at least an hour, if not 75 minutes on the bike. Throw in the 20 minute ride to the parh and ~10 minutes of loading and unloading and you'll be lucky to do it in under two hours one way.

Not a ride you'd do as a commute.

I'll be doing a commute like that in a year or so but I'm training to get to that point. Unless you're a serious rider that commute would be murder in October, much less in July or August.

Okay, biking is out then. Lame.

I can drive and pay to park or pay to ride Metro.

Too bad there's not a cyclist's fringe parking lot on the W&OD.

Oh, I could easily park at my uncle's house in Dunn Loring and bike the two blocks to the W&OD.

The problem is that you're still looking at an hour and a half plus shower time. It is what it is. I'd much rather have the extra hours to my own time. Use it to work out.
