It was kind of death by a 1000 cuts. He did get hit, but he also gave up a series of groundball hits, which as a groundball pitcher making his rookie debut, may not be what will happen normally. Can't be thrilling to have an infield of Belliard, Guzman, and Harris, when you are a groundball pitcher.
If I was a groundball pitcher and they called me up for my debut and that was my infield, I'd say, "no thanks."
