I'm trying to remember - was it last year in the Rays / Rangers series that the road team won every game?

It irks the crap out of me when batters don't bother to run out dropped third strikes.

i will cheer on Tampa the rest of the way, even though they are an AL team.  Some higher power appears to be driving this team right now.

That's what Adrian Gonzalez said.  He said G-d wanted the Rays to win this year.

So does that mean that they'll basically play a doubleheader tomorrow?

Also, would Verlander/CC pitch tomorrow?

Just one game tomorrow.  Game one will be played tomorrow instead of today.

So Game 2 Sunday, Game 3 Monday, Game 4 Tuesday then?

I just saw Nova is pitching for the Yankees tomorrow and Garcia in the game after that.   So I'm guessing they will go with the game 2 rotation and probably have CC/Verlander for the first game in Detroit.

Leyland says Fister tomorrow, Vernlander in game 3.  They could play 2 on Sunday if they get rained out tomorrow (day/night DH).  It's supposed to rain all day tomorrow.

Yankees fans don't get refunds or exchanges for tonight's tickets, so I'm guessing they have to show up on Sunday.

"The game will be resumed on Saturday evening where it left off -- between the top and bottom of the second inning. First pitch of Game 2 was originally scheduled for 8:37 p.m. ET; Game 2 of the series is now scheduled to be played at 3:07 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets for Game 1 can only be used on Saturday, while tickets for Game 2 can only be used for Sunday's game. There are no refunds or exchanges for tickets to either of these games."

Not only do tonight's ticketholders have to come back tomorrow, those who had tickets for tomorrow can now only use them on Sunday.  No refunds or exchanges.  The fans got screwed.

You know, everyone's is so amazing, shocked, in awe of how young (and dominant) Matt Moore is.  He's just 11 months younger than Stephen Strasburg and Strasburg has been in the majors for two seasons.

his age matters little.  He spent 5 years in the minors.  he didn't go from being drafted to dominating major league teams in less than half a season.  Moore also made a relatively obscure debut that was fairly pedestrian, at best.

Actually, his age does matter and the fact that he spent so much time in the minors, 5 years, makes it a little less impressive. Five years as a professional baseball player is a lot of time to hone your craft even if you start as an 18 year old.  That's more time than Strasburg spent in college, which is a lower level of competition.

Or, let me put it this way, after five years in the minors, he SHOULD be ready.

Nah, it really doesn't.  There's nothing dramatic about it, at least there wasn't before today.  It's not uncommon for players who go pro right out of high school to take 5 years or more to get the bigs, should they be forutnate enough to get there.  But even the best of college players, the best of the best, don't do what Strasburg did.  What SS did was true theater.

He's been outstanding ever since he was called up.  It's easy to see why he was such a highly rated prospect.

He has tremendous stuff.

Nothing in my last post contradicts anything I said in the other posts and nothing I said in the earlier posts contracts anything I said in my last post.

You're saying he should be good because he's been in the minors so long. You're dogging him for no reason. He's a 22 year old kid.

Actually, I said he should be READY, ie ready to pitch in the majors, because he's been in the minors so long...assuming he's ever going to be ready for the majors.  The fact that he's good is all on him.

My larger issue is the way the "Matt Moore Story" is being told it's as if he fell off the turnip truck a month ago and here he is, dominating.   That's clearly not the case.

I was unaware that he'd been in the minors for five years and, from the way his story is being sold, I was shocked by it and that's what prompted the post.
