Chico made one mistake and it proved costly as the Nationals lost to the
Braves, 1-0, at Nationals Park last Friday night. Chico pitched a great game,
going eight innings and giving up one run on five hits. But his biggest mistake
came in the sixth inning. Braves shortstop Yunel Escobar took the first pitch
and hit the ball over the right-center field wall for his second home run of
the season.

Maine hardly was challenged in the first five innings in his most recent start,
a no-decision victory against the Philliies Thursday. But he walked three
batters, allowed a single and needed 24 pitches to extricate himself from
the sixth inning without allowing a run. Then he surrendered a home run
and a double to right-handed hitters before being removed. He struck out
merely one of 26 batters, an abnormally low number for him.

This crap is exactly why the Chief's logic is backwards.  IF we win tonight, and Chief did the thread, my ass will be sacrificed in order to reverse the crap effort that this team has been putting forth.  Also, I have better things to do than to cater to superstitious BS.

Then why are you so hellbent on starting GD threads? There are definitely better things to do than that, too.

I start gameday threads because that's been my de facto duty here on the forum for years now.  And no, I don't sit around all day, waiting for the right time to post the gameday thread.  What the heck is "There are definitely better things to do than [start GD threads]" mean anyway?  By that logic, there are better things to do than be on the forum anyway.  And looking at Time Spent Online, you've got everyone else beat...

come on guys, let's stop bickering over something petty and insignificant. We are about to break this slump we've been in so let's not go at each other until the next time we lose a game :?  Of course now we'll never know who is to blame/credit for the outcome of tonight's game

But it's just starting a thread, right? Why not just moderate the thread? Regardless, it's not that big of a deal. I'm not a superstitious person, but I do like more positive vibes/posts here to start the games at least.

That's Firefox for ya. I leave my computer on and tabs open ALL day. When I'm actually here, 80% of the time I'm posting. That "stat" needs to be taken down, IMO. I'm sure I'm not the only one who does that.

Chico was 2-2 with a 6.20 ERA against the Mets last season.   :|

Maine has never impressed me but he almost always shuts us down. He has an ordinary 90 MPH fastball and a crappy slider.

I was about to post that our pregame/postgame guys bring good stuff to the table. Too bad our "sideline reporter" brings down the quality of our broadcasts :?

My cousin has a tattoo of a squirrel running up his leg and another squirrel running down his other leg with nuts in his mouth. It's pretty hilarious.

I refuse to follow games in threads without squirrels. Not because I'm superstitious - I'm not - but because squirrels make me laugh.

In that case why don't we all use squirrel avatars for tonight's game?
