Feeling like total ass so I didn't take any pictures of the new ride.  However, can't wait to put these to use once the stock wraps wear out:

I am normally hungry after I ride, and that would just make me even hungrier. I may have to put bacon on my pockets, and that would have even more yard dogs chasing me around Bama.

If I win the Powerball I'm buying a Colnago bike.

I forgot about the hat.

By the way, if I win, I'm moving to Belgium so I can ride free ;)

Nice.  DC was a BIG courier city back in the 80s, probably why there was a big racing scene here early on.

I made great $$ with all the drugs I could handle, not bad for a high school summer job in the 80s.  Got lucky with a receptionist from one of my regular K street pickups.  What a job.

I'm going to post them today when we go to the kite festival.  Have no fear, I've already started getting it scratched up and broken in.

I rode over to Capitol Hill the other day to have lunch with my wife and some suit asked if I liked being a messenger on hot days.  After I got over the shock of someone confusing a person my size with being a messenger, I gave him a response that would make AtBC proud - "it beats wearing a suit everyday."

Full disclosure: I wear a suit everyday and like it.  Sure, I'm another cog in the wheel of the capitali$t gangbang, but it lets me do things I couldn't do otherwise.  Besides, no one is innocent.

I love wearing suits and generally dressing nice. It's too bad that in our slobciety dressing nicely often means over-dressing.

Edit: I don't dress nicely to baseball games in case I ever meet any of you clowns.

Don't run over the cat.

Those are road tires or hybrid tires?

I'll post this in the men's wear thread, but this how I'm going to start dressing if I'm down another 50lbs in the fall (Kevin Bacon and Steven Webber):

I like dressing like trash...ratty old t-shirts and cut offs are my uniform.  I'll put on a tie for a meeting or to visit my grandmother, but that's about it.

HOLY crap.  Why the hell didn't I do this a long, long, long time ago?  Serious, this might have been the greatest ride I've ever had.  The hills are so much easier now, this bike is so much faster than my old MTB, and riding it is not like running in place.  Wow.  Just absolutely awesome.

Can Mrs. Morse keep up? When you say not like running in place, do you mean that the crank is farther forward?

Can Mrs. Morse keep up?

Oh yeah, we usually ride at a leisure pace and chat and take in the scenery.  She rides a hybrid that's an upright ride, so we usually take it slow and easy.  I did test the limits of me and the Cross Check today - needless to say I have a lot of leg strength to build up before I can out pedal the gears.

When you say not like running in place, do you mean that the crank is farther forward?

My old bike was a 19" mountain bike I'd put slicks on that was way too small for me.  With the hooded handlebars and longer and taller frame, I can finally get the 90˚ angle you should have for proper cycling form.  My gut is still a problem, but the geometry of the bike is SOOOOOO much better than my old mountain bike.  On my old bike I couldn't lean over at all - I was pretty much running in place anytime I needed to pick up some speed.

Anyone interested in doing the Tour de Cure in June?  Here's the particulars on the TdC and the 20 mile fitness route:

Three things I've realized now that I'm getting used to the Cross Check:

- I need to take the lock off of my bike and keep it in my belt bag - the rattling is annoying.  I'm ordering one of these bad boys tonight to replace my little OnGuard Bulldog:

- The cages are getting 86ed as soon as I trade-in some unused video games.  Way too much of a hassle and jumping in and out of the cages is a real pain in the ass, not to mention the energy transfer loss.

- I'm getting a Brooks saddle and ditching this cheap ass gel seat I've been using.  Sure, there's little support with a Brooks saddle but it beats the daily testicle crunch these hard ass seats provide.

Rode for a while out into a salt marsh yesterday.  Incoming tide but hadn't reached the nether regions, so the exposed flats were fairly dry.  First time I've ridden where you had to dodge fiddler crabs.
