I don't understand these lineups. Why not actually field the best players consistently for a change.

I'm "bach-ing" it tonight, wife and kids out of town on various expeditions.  Just finished a round of golf at 1757 in Herndon, now thinking ahead to getting my Nats fix tonight.  Crabs, huh?  $175 a bushel?

I shot a 108, which included a 10 and a 9, so consider myself fortunate.

Ok, Mr. Jobs

Nyjer back in lead off, no Desmond, and Wooly is the DH?  Really, Riggleman?

One would think that when you get Stephen Strasburg at the head of your rotation, you'd be MORE motivated to keep your job, instead, Jim Riggleman is putting together lineups that make it look like he wants to get himself fired.  >:(

This is a "if someone doesn't dive in front of a pitch, we'll be perfect-gamed" kind of lineup.

Nieves starting makes sense, per Blue's observation that they obviously want Pudge catching Stras tomorrow, and it's obvious that Pudge's back isn't in good enough shape for him to catch every day.

Are they showcasing Willie Harris?  Please, somebody give me something!

Who else has a DH who's batting average is well below the Mendoza line?  Does "designated hitter" mean something else to Riggleman?

Curious about why Willie the DH and Willingham in the field, unless Riggs thinks he'll PH Morse for Harris as soon as a lefty is brought in.

Willie has had a ridiculously bad stretch of plate appearances after the first 3 weeks of the season.  PER the B-R game logs, first 16 games, through 4/23 and 42 plate appearances, his OPS was .810.  Since then, in 69 PAs, his OBP is .217 and SLG is .270. While the past few years, he's been effective against righties, he's been playing almost exclusively against RHP in that time.  From 2007-09, plus the start of the year, his OBP against RHP had not been below .350 and his SLG had not been below .400.

The thing is, it is not just a bad luck streak where balls that should drop in don't.  What is down this year is his line drive rate (from his fangraphs page), going from  from 15 - 20% the past few years to 10% which is one indication of bad contact, and his groundballs are seem to be dribblers (not going for hits, but weak contact).  He is getting fooled, too.  He is swinging more at balls outside the strike zone, making more contact outside the strike zone, which yields dribblers. He's also missing balls in the strike zone.

I wonder if Eckstein has picked something up.  Hint Ben or Neumie - that's a good conversation for you to have with Eckstein.

Back for my first gameday thread in a week. Lets go Nats! Enjoyed the Strasburg start, as well as the sweep. Last night sucked.

Lets get this Martin.

Isn't your DH supposed to be the guy that hits well but sucks in the field :?

Why not have Dunn DH and Morse play first or something like that.

Because that would make sense.
