That "creepy" photo is interesting. I'm an ametuer photgrapher and I can say the reason for that is the lighting is the worst portrait lighting I've ever seen. He's lit from the sides, and not from a more traditional position i.e. the from the front combines with a "fill light". A good example of this is that his right eye makes him look cross-eyed because the white of his right eye is lit extra heavy, thus giving a cross eyed look. Also, his left side is lit more dimly, giving his face an uneven, asymmetrical look, not to mention a darker and slightly sinister look with it being dimply lit. Also, he looks dead... just with his eyes open - there's no emotion. He doesn't even look "tough". Just... there. Cross eyed, sinister, asymmetrical, emotionless = creepy in my book.
