And seriously, Joe Torre's press conference is such a stark contrast to the crap Matt Williams would spew.

Joe Girardi...  ;)

I don't know who the woman announcer is for this game but I'm enjoying her.

She's not Curt Schilling!

Aside from that she's great, but the best thing about her is how Curt Schilling she isn't.

It's so odd having a manager explain decisions he made based on things that are happening in the game.

I hate the during the game interview.  So much.

I just enjoy that Houston top of the order - Altuve, Springer, Correa - and the way they dig up pitchers for the rotation and the bullpen.  They're set up guy is one of those guys we'd call "dumpster dives" but he's been awesome this year.  Gregerson had a spotty track record as a closer but they looked past that.  Spotting McHugh based on the spin of his curveball is just an amazing story.

Also, I loved McCann getting a bad call low pitch called a strike against him and complaining.  He should play the game the right way.  Is Eric Cooper the ump who Harper beefs with?

i only saw it from the 6th to the end, but what a well played game by Houston.   I think they'll get swept at KC, or maybe win the 1 game Kuechel pitches, but the are going to be a fun team to watch for a long time with arguably the best middle infield in baseball.

The Yankees are going to be interesting to watch, a very old team with just about everyone on the wrong side of 30.  They've got arguably the best 8-9 inning guys in the game, but I wonder if they'll end up trading one of them to beef up elsewhere.

I think with Gregorius and a Refsnyder / Ackley platoon (at worst), plus Greg Bird, they have some good young pieces in the infield.  Gardner is showing no signs of age, either.

as for Houston, don't sell their other pitchers short. McHugh has been terrific for them, and they probably can't start McCullers with Fiers and Kazmir ahead of him.  Nice group of relievers, and Marisnick / Springer / Rasmus can shag flies.

I love the Astros.  They come across as humble and not entitled (unlike a certain other team...) and they seem to just enjoy playing baseball.  Happy they won, but I would've been okay with the Old Man Yanks taking it too.

Them playing the Royals next is a Sophie's Choice for me.  I'm a fan of both teams, but I think I'll have to root a little harder for the Astros.

The female announcer was great.  Hope she's there for other games instead of the usual idiots they have in the postseason.

And seriously, Joe Girardi's press conference is such a stark contrast to the crap Matt Williams would spew.

The Yanks fans booing their players towards the end was brutal.
Unless ESPN has more games, you won't be hearing Mendoza until next year.

I like both of these teams so this is the type of game I love, no stress and I'm happy with whoever wins :mg:

Southie

I never hated the Cubs.   They weren't usually a threat.   I had a lot of respect for Banks and later Williams.    I have visions of seeing them at Forbes when I was a kid.

 hopefully we're not listening to our next manager but rather watching him in the Cubbies dugout

I actually haven't seen him yet :( but he's the good looking one next to Maddon usually, just like in my avatar :)

Actually grew up on the far Northside.  It all goes back to one kid in school who was the ultimate, intolerable Cubs homer.  I hate them because of him...

Crushed.    Sounds like a lot of Cubs' fans (or is my hearing aid on the fritz again).
