What does Chris Perez have to say about this?

Good signing, I guess, for the Indians.  He's not as good as Choo but they got a pretty good return for Choo so this is a net plus for them.  I think they won around 70 games last year and going from Choo to Swisher could generously be called treading water.  So good for them.

Actually - would the Indians be a good trade partner for Morse if LaRoche comes back?  Who do they have slotted as their 1B and DH?

Reynolds and LaPorta, if TT is right, with Chisenhall at 3d.

The agreed-upon contract will pay Swisher $56 million over his four guaranteed seasons and includes a vesting option based on plate appearances for 2017. If the outfielder reaches the required plateau in the 2016 campaign, he could earn another $14 million in '17, pushing the deal's potential value to $70 million.

LaPorta looks AAAA.  I could understand them wanting to give him another shot but that doesn't make as much sense now that they've dropped $50 or $60 mil on Swisher.

LaPorta was DFA'd this past off-season... so he'll be a long shot to make the squad.

So who plays 1B and DH?  Reynolds they just signed so he'll take one of those spots.

1B will be Reynolds. No clue on the DH, yet.

Sounds like they might be a fit for Morse.  He's cheap and on a one year deal.

Santana, Morse, and Swisher would be a solid middle of the order.

The Indians don't really have anything we need/want. Hagadone is the best left hander we have left... and he won't cut it.

Good to know.  Do they have enough money left to get LaRoche (assuming he would go there)?

Ibanez to Seattle, let's hope we don't play them in the WS.

Reynolds is going to play first for Cleveland and I doubt that LaRoche would want to DH.

Former Reds OF Ryan Freel committed suicide today.  He suffered a few concussions during his time in the majors, including a particularly nasty one that put him out of action for a while when he collided with another player.  I'm guessing there will be an investigation into whether or not they played a role in whatever depression he was suffering from.

Reynolds could DH.  If all they have to give up is a 3rd round pick, maybe they'd think LaRoche is worth it.

Reynolds and LaPorta, if TT is right, with Chisenhall at 3d.

Reynolds is slotted in as 1B, with LaPorta on the bench as backup.  Mike Aviles is slotted in currently as DH.  I placed LaPorta in as DH because Francona has kept contact with him this off-season to try and work on him giving production...and not in the wind power kind.  Aviles will also be able to give Chisenhall, Cabrera, and Kipnis a breather now and then.

On the bright side, this is Jimenez's last year.  So after this year we won't need his pathetic self around.  Our staff is an absolute mess though.  I loved the Bauer pickup and I'm glad Carrasco is coming back, but he's coming off Tommy John surgery so his effectiveness is up in the air.  McAllister is also pretty good.  But Masterson is inconsistent and Jimenez just sucks.

I think Hagadone would cut it.  He did pretty decent (had his struggles), but look who his coaching staff was - (headed by the genius that is Manny Acta).  Davey tends to get a great deal out of his players.

I would offer a package of P Nick Hagadone, 2B Cord Phelps, C Luke Carlin (DC area native) and cash for Morse.

May not get the deal done, but would be a talking point...

Trevor Bauer is going to be one of the elite pitchers in baseball within the next 4 years, I hope you're grateful that Kevin Towers and the Arizona Diamondbacks don't value the word of scouts and care more about a player's home made rap album.

More than what the Dbacks got for him!  I've been a dbacks fan since 1998 and the Kevin Towers era is really making me rethink things, the moves he makes are so unorthodox along with the insane front office.

I wouldn't want to play for that team either. The way they've treated Justin Upton is like the boy who cried wolf, except the boy who cried "we don't want you so we're trading you!" Upton has to be completely sick of Towers & Co.

Hanrahan trade now offiical.  With some added players, it becomes a 2 for 4:

Hanrahan and Brock Holt.

Mark Melancon, Ivan DeJesus Jr, plus Pimental and Sands as mentioned before.

Melancon was acquired for Jed Lowrie, while de baby De Jesus was delivered in the Punto trade.

Holt is an MI from Rice, 2009, and was a September call up this year.

Looks like a steal for the Red Sox.  Holt has excelled at every level.

Well, Melancon isn't chopped liver, or at least wasn't 2 years ago.  Sands could

with Garrett Jones and be effective for next to nothing.  Holt gives them an option at MI other than Iglesias while waiting for Bogaerts.
