Guess they don't update the maps in the Metro cars ...

Geez, maybe you should pay attention - proposed changes, nothing is concrete yet.

Holy crap, rode this thing today down at Big Wheel in Old Town and I think I know what I'm buying myself for an early birthday present.  Let me present to you the 2012 Bianchi Volpe:

Oh yeah, it rode like a dream too.  Super smooth and very solid.  I'd heard that Big Wheel can be dicks but they were super cool to me today, something that usually doesn't happen when fatties frequent bike shops.

I can't imagine that any of those emaciated super skinny cycling dudes could really stand up to a withering stare from someone the likes of you.

You've obviously never experienced discrimination.  Yes, it can happen to fat people.  I was once hired with another guy the exact same week for the exact same job, turns out I was paid less because I was "too fat and won't be able to do the job."

Skinny higher-paid guy was gone within a month, I was there for three years and was in a "managerial" role in the same department by the time I left.

The sales guy I talked to was 6'7" and a solid 250lbs.  Super cool guy though, was very honest with me about probably always having to ride steel due to my size but very nice about it.

It's never made any sense to me either, but it happens.  I suppose they see a heftier version of Joba Chamberlain cruise in and there's no way he's going to buy a Seven TT for $10K.  The funny part is when I find a place that I like I stay loyal to it so dismissing me out of hand is only going to hurt them.  A number of locally owned music stores in Chicago and Richmond found that out the hard way.

It's just like the class discrimination in the Not-So-Chocolate-City...

That's pretty great.  I prefer to ride around with my rear tire on fire instead.

That is sexy.

I want a steel bike, but I need to get a new job, pay off some debts and move to an area of the country where they don't let wild yard dogs run free to abuse cyclists as they pedal by.

Did they happen to have the Bianchi Vigorelli available? Its around $1,800, but that Celeste paint color is a thing of beauty.

I had a Felt but sold it when I switched to being a teleworker. I just don't get enough use out of a road bike to justify the storage space.

The terrorists (tourists) are actually worse, if you can believe that.

Nah, they just had the Volpe I test rode and a smaller Volpe in their store.  It was a pretty small shop though.

I bought it from a Columbia Heights bike hippie. Pretty good secondary market.

Bike hippie and Felt?  Come on playa.  You know you bought it from some scumbag K Street lawyer slumming it in Columbia Whites.

The terrorists (tourists) are actually worse, if you can believe that.

Nearly 3 years ago I was chased up a hill by a 120-130 lb attack dog, one red eye, one blue eye.  He never barked, he just came out of nowhere. The first time I had just finished my 2nd 25+ mile ride in two days, my legs were jelly, and I had to get my 240 lbs  up a little hill. I hit 24 mph and left Cujo in the dust. He was pissed.

A few days later, coming back after my first 30 mile ride of the season, Cujo comes out, but I'm ready and I'm already in the 20 mph range when he makes his move. I get away cleanly, but since this is the last mile before I'm home, twice I have screwed up my cool down.

A few days later I'm going out for my ride, I'm looking on my left for Cujo, but he's on top of the hill and coming down at full speed, and he's only 10 yards away when I see him, he sideswipes my front wheel and sends me flipping into a ditch. Lucky for me it was full of mud or I would have been really hurt. The owner sees the accident, a neighbor sees it - downside is the guy has no insurance, no job and I'm out about $200 in medical bills, $200 in bike repairs, and a chronic shoulder injury that bothers me when I lift weights, wash cars, etc.

I only had one way out of my neighborhood as the other option was a busy street with cars coming downhill at 50 mph.  I lost two weeks of riding and I'm still pretty worried about any dogs I see, not just big ones with one red eye and one blue.

Nah, they just had the Volpe I test rode and a smaller Volpe in their store.  It was a pretty small shop though.

I really want a steel frame, so hopefully I can go shopping next year.

I'm trying to bleed the hydraulic disc brakes on my Marin assault bike...not looking good so far.  Tomorrow might be a road bike day after all (though I'll feel like a total tool turtling along at 10mph on a flash gucci ride).
