According to Fangraphs' Wendy Thurm, the Nats project to have MLB's 10th highest payroll in 2014 at $130.5M

the lack of pre-arbitration players projected to make the opening day roster (2, tied for last) probably means the payroll is going to continue to rise

the second table was pretty interesting

Mauer and Cano are each taking up 27% of their teams' salary :shock: isn't the point to build around your best players not to sign them for huge deals then hope the rest somehow falls into place?

I also noted that there's a sizable drop from the 10th spot to the 11th, more than $20MM.
