Nationals released RHP Christian Garcia.

Garcia shows good stuff when he's managed to stay healthy, but unfortunately that hasn't been often. He was on Triple-A Syracuse's disabled list at the time the Nats cut him loose. It's not clear how long he'll be sidelined.

Guess his injuries were just too much for the Nats to keep him on.

That's too bad. The dude was a brilliant pitcher when healthy, he was just never healthy.

Was this procedural to clear a 40 man space for Hill?  Waive him off the 40 man, figure no one claims him b/c he's hurt, and then retain at Syracuse?

Wouldn't they have DFA'd him if they had planned on keeping him?

Doesn't releasing him mean they don't have to run him through waivers right now?

Nope, still has to clear waivers.
