The air outside the club should be pretty pungent the night of that show.

The Sword is playing 9:30 on 10/20 but I'm not sure I can convince anyone to go :(

I avoid both of them myself.

I was thinking the latter, but now that you mention it...

Hank III and Assjack this coming Sunday @9:30 Club.  Big bonus: Monday is a holiday.

(for anyone unfamiliar with Hank III, the first part of his show is serious boot-scootin' old-timey country, where Hank is a dead ringer for his grandpaw...but things get pretty wild after that, eventually ending up in death metal thrash territory).

Hank III is awesome as Hank II is moronic, but alas I can't make it.

Wish we could have arrived earlier than 6:45 for the tailgate.  Buffett tailgating is an event that damn near rivals the concert itself.

Our seats weren't too bad either.

We started tailgating at 2pm and had got lawn seats while there. As usual there was a seemingly endless supply of jello shots and games of cornhole and pochinco drinking games. I danced till my sandles broke than danced barefoot on the lawn.

There's a great Canadian band at Rock & Roll Hotel on Thursday...they signed with Matador, so they are touring the U.S. en route to the big Matador shindig in Vegas in early October.  Anyways, freaked Up at R&RH, $12.  And for you hipsters out there, yes they are Pitchfork darlings.

My brother loves them. He went half deaf after he last saw them.

Going to see System Divide (Israeli/Belgian keyboard metal), Holy Grail (Iron Maiden disciples), 3 inches of Blood (second coming of AC/DC) and Eluveitie (flute and bagpipe metal) at Jaxx in VA on Sunday. It is going to be epic.

Going to see Andy Poxon at Bangkok Blues Saturday night, highly recommended.  Next weekend it's Laurie Berkner at Lisner.

I live right next to Jaxx and haven't been to a single show since I moved here.  I used to live there during college.

Jaxx books really, really respectable shows. Since the 9:30 Club devolved into utter crap, it's really Baltimore or Jaxx.

I wouldn't go if someone offered me a free ticket.
