Dixon Anderson
Up to date stats on milb.com:
http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?sid=milb&t=p_pbp&pid=592109
Born: 07/02/1989
Birthplace: Piedmont, CA
College: UC Berkeley
Height: 6' 5"
Weight: 225
Bats: R
Throws: R
Position: Starting Pitcher
Drafted: 9th round in 2011 draft by Washington. Drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the 6th round of the 2010 Draft from UC Berkeley but did not sign. Turned down a $450k offer.

2010 video from mlb.com: http://mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?topic_id=8080130&content_id=8192861

Did not pitch profesionally in 2011 and appeared in only 9 games during the 2012 - presumably because of injury.

John Sickels on Anderson:
Quote
Big guy at 6-5, can hit 95 MPH, but secondary stuff is below average and college performance record is inconsistent. Could turn out to be very good, or he could stall out in A-ball. Threw in mid-90s last year and was drafted in the sixth round. Went back to school, threw just 90 this year and lost three rounds. Also has decent curve, cutter, and splitter. Inning-eater type but might get velocity back if he goes to bullpen.
baseballdraftreport.com on Anderson:
Quote
He once showed the power stuff - mid-90s fastball, above-average low-80s breaking ball, and an emerging splitter - needed to excel in a relief role, but may have to reinvent himself as a sinker/slider/cutter guy if his four-seam heat doesn’t return.
DistrictSportsPage.com (http://districtsportspage.com/washington-nationals-minor-league-update-for-the-week-of-41413/16887) on Anderson:
Quote
Dixon Anderson is shaping-up to be a nice relief prospect. The right-hander has a hard 90-94 MPH sinker, a downer curve and a deceptive delivery. His mechanics make it difficult for opposing batters to get comfortable in the box, as he varies his timing from pitch to pitch.

Keep in mind this is Anderson's first full season because of injuries.

It's crazy to suggest he will turn out like Karns but that's clearly the route Anderson is taking development wise.

Why.
Similar size. Karns 6' 3" 230, Dixon 6' 5" 225. Similar stuff to Karns with a mid 90s heater but fringy breaking stuff.

Also, both battled injuries early in their Minor League career and then put up good numbers in Hagerstown in their first full seasons. Will be interesting to see if Dixon gets bumped to Potomac like Karns did last year.

Maybe he will jump to Potomac and Robbie Ray heads to Harrisburg soon.

No evidence of him having pitched professionally since May 11th last year at Hagerstown.
