National Broadcast Schedule
« Topic Start: June 03, 2012, 09:17:58 PM »
I figured I would keep a listing of upcoming games scheduled for national broadcasts (ESPN, MLB Network, TBS, FOX), especially for our friends outside of the MASN coverage area.

Some notes:

-The ESPN Sunday Night games are the only games that are broadcast to everyone nationwide, both in-market and out-of-market.  MASN does not broadcast these games.  ESPN games on other days are blacked out in MASN territory, as MASN has the rights to those games.
-FOX Saturday games are regional coverage - there are usually four or five games shown at the same time.  MASN does not broadcast these games.  the506.com is a good place to find a coverage map to see what games are being shown across the country (usually updated on Thursday or Friday before the game).
-MLB Network games are available to those outside MASN territory.  Some people make the argument that these don't really count as national games, but MLBN is more widely distributed than NFL Network and more people probably see these games than the FOX games due to FOX's regional coverage.  Some MLBN games are regional coverage (* below means that they have 2 or more games showing concurrently, so different areas of the country will get different games).  I think that MLBN uses their own announcers (headed by Bob Costas) for Friday games, and simulcasts the home feed on other days.

Here goes:

Thursday, June 7 vs. NYM, 1:05 (MLBN*)
Saturday, June 9 @ BOS, 4:05 (MLBN*)
Friday, June 15 vs. NYY, 7:05 (MLBN*)
Saturday, June 16 vs. NYY, 1:05 (MLBN*)
Sunday, June 17 vs. NYY, 1:35 (TBS)
Saturday, June 23 @BAL, 7:15 (FOX)

I'll update this as more games get announced.

Here's this weekend's FOX coverage map.  Nationals-Orioles is pretty much limited to the Mid-Atlantic region, and we get Bob Carpenter again.

OK - how do they decide which part of Montana gets which game?

So if I live in South Carolina there is truly no way at all for me to watch Saturday's game?

If you have mlb.tv, http://www.easy-hide-ip.com .  You can pick a UK ip address, for example, and you can watch any Fox Saturday game.

MLB Network has added several Nats games.  In addition to July 4, they will carry the games on July 5, 17, 20, 21 (night game), and 26.

ESPN hasn't yet announced their Sunday Night Baseball games after the end of July (except one August match between NYY and BOS, go figure).  I bet we get another game or two.

Nah, they will only add close races.  our games will be boring with the big lead in the division.

...if we do get slated for SNB please let the matches be on the road...I really can't attend the Sunday nighters because of undependable public transport (remember our home match against the Phillies earlier this year  - Metro practically had to be dragged kicking and screaming into adding late trains - those ESPN matches always last at least three hours because of the added commercials).

Plus a lot of us pick the Sunday games to take the kids and it really screws us over if they change the game time to 8 PM after we've already bought the tickets.

I'm trying to find out, but no luck yet.  Aside from a NYY/BOS game in mid-August, nothing is set after the end of this month.

In addition to ESPN this Wednesday (probably not available in MASN territory), TBS is picking up our match against MIL on July 29 and MLBN is picking up the game against PHI on July 31.

Will we catch Santana this time around? I'd like to see him and Dickey in person this week.

It looks like we'll miss Santana.  Dickey vs. Gio on Thursday should be a great matchup.
