Capuono had us all tied up earlier in the year.  I really don't like this match up.  We are in a slump and he is just the kind of pitcher that gives us fits.

Esteban Loaiza (5-5, 3.57 ERA)
Loaiza is 1-1 with a 2.42 ERA in four career games, including three starts, against the Brewers. In his last three starts, Loaiza is 2-0 with a 3.31 ERA and 19 strike outs in as many innings.

Chris Capuano (10-6, 3.63 ERA)
Capuano is 3-3 with a 2.79 ERA in eight career starts against the Nationals franchise. In his last three starts this season, Capuano 3-0 with an ERA of 6.00 in 18 innings pitched.

MLB.com Scouting Report:
Aside from Livan Hernandez, Loaiza is the only Nationals pitcher to win at least three consecutive starts this season. Loaiza has registered wins in four of his last five decisions, and six of his last eight outings have been quality starts.

Capuano got hot at the end of the first half, winning his final five starts -- despite allowing four runs in each of the last three -- to become the first Brewers lefty to win 10 games before the All-Star break since Teddy Higuera did so 19 years ago. He's the first Brewers starter to win five consecutive decisions since Ben Sheets won six straight on the way to the 2001 All-Star Game.

I have bad news: Apparently the same umpire that was called the balk last night is going to be calling balls & strikes behind the plate tonight.

What don't you like about the Nats lineup? Marlon Byrd hits left handers better than Ryan Church does. And unless you want Schneider to burn out, you need to play Bennett now and then. If you don't he'll become useless.

There's no big deal in who is being the plate calling the balls and strikes, or what calls they made the day before. If he was embarrassed or made to look bad yesterday, then I'd worry, but he's just as much a professional as the players are. To think his being behind the plate will change the outcome is kinda silly.

If you don't think he looked bad yesterday after Frank proved him wrong, I think that's kinda silly.   :P

If Frank did such a great job of proving him wrong, how come the call wasn't reversed?

Because a balk call is a "judgement decision" by the umpire.  And by rule "judegment decisions" can't be reversed.  But Frank's position was proven...it's even been confirmed by most every major sports outlet including ESPN.

Only part of the lineup I don't like is the SS.  I would tell to keep the bat on his shoulder - don't even think about swinging.  Maybe he can coax a walk....at least he won't swing at bad pitches this way.

I think FR should consider batting Guzzy in the 9 spot when Hernandez and Loiaza are pitching

I see the Astros and Cubs both lost today.
Dat's gut.

Pittsburgh 3, Chicago 0
St Louis 4, Houston 2
