Harper will be loved by the fans of the team that drafts him, and hated by fans elsewhere. Then he will go to another team, and be despised by fans of the team that drafts him.

I think that depends on how he leaves, especially if he gets traded when the team can't sign him rather than just walking. I think it's just as likely that the fans turn on ownership if they don't come up with the money to sign him long term (how much do Indian fans hate CC and Lee versuses the owners?).

I still love both guys.

They gave their all to the team. Not their fault that the owners were too cheap to find a way to sign them long term.

Are all Dolan's retarded ? Or just the ones that own sports teams?

Latest update about Bryce and the playoffs:

http://www.lvrj.com/sports/csn-advances-in-baseball-tournament-with-9-8-win-94542564.html

"A monstrous home run off the aluminum bat of Bryce Harper launched the College of Southern Nevada to an ideal start Thursday.  Harper's two-run, first-inning blast, estimated at a minimum of 500 feet, created a buzz and left some of the locals in awe."

Harper was 1-4.  He also threw out a base runner in the 7th, and CSN won the sloppy 9-8 game.

In college?  It's aluminum.  I know BH had been using wood but now that they're in the post season there might actually be rules against it.

Oh got it, so he opted to use a wooden bat (I knew they used aluminum bats in D1 but wasn't sure about junior colleges).

From all I heard, his entire team used wood bats. Odd they'd switch now.

According to this story it was a wood bat league, but Heyman wrote it so take it with the Great Salt Lake.  The only thing I can think of is that since they're now in the postseason, they would have to switch to metal bats so everyone's on a "level" playing field.

Harper's league uses wood bats, but their season and tourny are over.  CSN is now in a regional tournament and is using metal for the first time this season.  Their second game should be starting right about now.

Bottom of the third and CSN is up 1-0.  Harper is 1-2 with an RBI double.

Harper leads off the top of the 5th with a single and is driven in to tie the game 2-2.  Top of 5th one out.

UPDATE:  Harper singles in the top of the sixth.  Two on, one out for CSN.  They trail 5-4.  Harper is 3-4, 2B, RBI, and a run.  He broke the school's runs scored record.  His double was his 20th of the year.

UPDATE:  Coyotes are blowing it open in the seventh.  It's 9-5.  Harper hits a solo shot(a runner had been picked off of first) to make it 8-5.  Harper 4-5 2B, HR, 2 RBIs.

The other team's closer had only given up four runs in 50 innings all year, but has just been chased after giving up eight runs in the seventh inning. It's 12-5 as I type this.  Harper should get another AB in the game unless they get a run rule win(eight runs).

UPDATE:  In this tourny(most of two games) Harper is 5-9 with a 2B, 2 HRs, 4 RBIs.  BA is .556 OB% is .600 SLG% is 1.333  12-7 bottom of the seventh.

UPDATE:  Harper singles in the top of the 8th driving in two more runs.  He's 5-6, 2B, HR, four RBIs.  CSN leads 15-8 in the top of the 8th.  There is an 8 run mercy rule.

UPDATE:  Incredibly Bryce Harper got another at bat and tripled in two more runs.  He is only the second player to hit for the cycle in school history.  It's 22-8 in the bottom of the eighth.  6-7, 2B, 3B, HR, six RBIs.

if by some miracle he signs as quick as Storen, is there any chance we see him sometime next season?  Could he rocket through the minors faster than Pujols?

Wow! Is this guy for real? Imagine if he'd played in a metal bat league all year! Great move on the prince of darkness' part for going with the wooden bat league. Should help prepare him for pro ball much quicker than other prospects.

He's a Boras client, he'll probably cut the deadline closer than Strasburg did.
