Of course they are refunded. But with miser owners I wouldn't be surprised if they just tell you you have a credit for next year.
A Miser is a person who lives in wretched circumstances in order to save and hoard money. Pretty sure the Lerner's don't live in squalor, or piss outdoors or eat dog food.
The Lerner's are plenty of things, but they are not Misers.
