I'm sure I'm probably the last Skyrim player in the world to get there, but:

Chief, stop posting your fancy PC graphics, making me jelly.

Kidding, continue posting. Nice shot.

Also, I got to High Hrothgar precisely yesterday. So much to do.

Yup.  I'm level 23 and yet I haven't cracked 60 on any of my skills because I haven't been far enough out to find trainers for any of them.  Even just one new town cost me ~6 hours going around exploring the shops, talking to everyone, doing a few misc. quests and picking up about half a dozen more that are still "to do"

I'm at level 17 I think. Starting to lag behind a bit. Started focusing on two-handed and heavy armor, which I probably should have been doing from the start with my Nord character.

Took some time and got married to an NPC. Anyone else done that? Wifey opened a shop (too bad the game doesn't have a physical shop that you can visit) and kicks me gold whenever I check in at my sweet pad.

Just cleared some random Vampire lair and moving on the next main storyline quest... but only because I was up there for the Stormcloak campaign. Honestly, though, I think the side quests and random caves are more interesting, just like Oblivion.

Given that there is a LOT more variety in the design and look of the side dungeons than there was in Oblivion, I would say that Skyrim is much better.  Once you'd seen one cave/fort/ruin in Oblivion, you'd seen them all.  Didn't stop me from looting every one I came across anyway, but y'know...  the variety is nice this time around

Sure. I still think the caves in Oblivion were one of the best parts of the game. Given, I only played it for a month or so...

I tried playing a bit with an Xbox controller on pc, ugh I couldn't play without a kb/mouse anymore.  How do you get by with a controller?

Can't imagine playing this game with a mouse and keyboard.

because...?

it's a superior interface for most anything that isn't a straight platformer.  MS themselves have done studies showing as much.

Obviously it doesn't have the whole play from the sofa thing,  if that's what you mean.  There are times I envy that, thought about hooking up the xbox pad for that reason,  just haven't yet.

We've kind of already had this conversation before, but I prefer controller for FPS games and various other genres of games. The combat system in Skyrim is similar enough to an FPS that I doubt I would like keyboard and mouse more.

Yeah I know, but I was bored in line at Chipotle

And as long as you don't mind that you preference makes you competitively inferior, who am I to say that you're wrong? :P

(obviously doesn't matter in a SP game, I just wanted to bust your chops some more :mg: )

For anyone not playing a sneaky character but who has an occasional need to be sneaky, you can make an invisibility potion with:

ice wraith teeth + chaurus eggs

duration depends on your alchemy skill and perks, I'm assuming.

Just when I thought maybe I was leveling too much in relation to how far I've explored, the Necromages in Fort Kastav completely mopped the floor with me.  Good thing I was only passing through on the way to Winterhold.

I came across some ruins in the western part of Skyrim where I ran into something like 5 Trolls. They came at me one at a time, except for one instance where I fought 2 at once. I destroyed them with ease. I remember how hard they were to kill when I first started playing.

I'm pretty much back to being a pure mage at this point.  I've got a nice suit of armor and a pretty decent weapon skill, but my health is far too low to stand toe-to-toe with anything.  That said, the impact destruction perk makes almost any single non-magical enemy an easy fight as long as I don't run out of magicka/potions.  The enemies further north appear to be a lot tougher though, so I'm gonna need some crowd control spells or I'll be easy to mob.

Well, I think I spoke too soon. I guess I was feeling invincible. I ran into a nag of an enemy in a dungeon. It's a Draugr Deathlord. They have the shout ability, plus the ability to kill you with one arrow from their bow. Took me a while and a few lives to kill that one.

Funny, I ran into that exact same thing immediately after reading your post.  I was actually doing fine until I ran out of magicka and he took me out with one swing.

I hope I run into a tough battle soon. Everything the last two nights has been a cakewalk. I am getting worried about the difficulty level.
