Even if he beats the $3.5 or so from the Nats last offer, the loss of a year towards arbitration is a bigger cost to his pocket than getting the max on the table.  If he does not get a major league contract out of this, he may have hurt himself even more.

Crow, the 12th overall pick in the 2009 draft, was given a $1.5 million signing bonus and will earn $3 million over the next three seasons (2010-2012) as long as he stays in the major leagues. The 22-year-old has a nice fastball-slider combination, but will need to have a great spring to crack the Royals' starting rotation in 2010. Some scouts believe he's better suited for a bullpen role. I honestly don't know if that really is the contract he signed, but if it is he ought to dump the Hendricks cartel ASAP.
