I hope the shore isn't as far gone as you describe. I spent youthful vacations on LBI and loved them. There's something special about the Jersey Shore. Asbury Park and Seaside Heights were okay back then, too.
LBI was annihilated. There wasn't really anywhere on the island that didn't flood out at least a good three feet. Seaside Heights lost the Casino Pier. THE ENTIRE PIER. It's gone. I saw on my facebook that certain people thought this storm was a joke. Those people are total jerks. I know I'm one of the few that have minimal damage and working utilities. Most are not as lucky.
