Why is this team so reluctant to do tests?  It can't really be cheapness, can it?  Maybe it's blissful ignorance.  They don't want to know exactly what the injuries are because they'd have to address them?

Morse sucks in the outfield.  Is he really that slow or is it a complete lack of hustle?  Some AL team with a DH slot open is in his future.

I think he's that slow. I saw a 2009 game on MASN yesterday and he was just as slow. He's simply not a fast man.

hearing the fans sing a-ha late in the game down 8-0 was kinda sad.  Almost wish they hadn't used the song today.

Yeah, hard to tell from as far away as I was, but it just seemed like he was in no rush to get over to those balls in the corner.  In any case there is no way that we go into 2013 with him in our outfield, either we move LaRoche out and put Morse at 1st or it's time for the Beast to move on.

He certainly looked slow on the tube as well.

Michael Morse feels leg spasm during home run trot
By James Wagner , Updated: October 3, 2012

As he rounded first base following his eighth inning home run, left fielder Michael Morse felt something in his left hamstring, Nationals Manager Davey Johnson said. It was likely a spasm, he said, the first known leg injury for Morse this season.

“Hopefully it was just a spasm,” Johnson said. “Might be a first if somebody pulled a hamstring on a home run.”

Morse will receive treatment and no tests, Johnson said. Following the game, as Johnson left the X-ray room for tests on his back, he noticed Morse getting treatment on his leg, “electrodes on there stimulating,” as he put it. Morse’s injury doesn’t appear serious, Johnson said.

It has been a trying season for the slugger, who missed the season’s first 50 games with a lateral muscle strain and then has dealt with a bad bone bruise in his left wrist and a sore right hand. After missing four games because of his left wrist, Morse has hit .326 (17 for 52) with five home runs and 13 RBI. With Wednesday’s home run, Morse finishes the regular season hitting .291/.321/.470 with 18 home runs and 62 RBI in 102 games.

Perhaps, they are related.

Good point, if this is the case the Shark needs to start tomorrow, Lombo too.

It didn't help that the Cardinals almost seemed to be aiming the ball at him.  I, honestly, don't think he starts tomorrow.

From the stands on the 3b side, Morse disappeared in the corner for awhile... I thought he may have sat down and had a sandwich....

Morse?  No chance he sits tomorrow unless he gets hit by a truck between now and then.  None.

The ball did get stuck under the pads rather than bounce off like it normally does, which is what he was playing.  He had to run those extra 20 feet when it didn't do that.  Morse is probably getting too big of a rap on this one.

If he's injured and can't run, there's a very good chance he doesn't start.  This is desperation time.

...plus he might have strep...

Did I miss something about an injury after the game?  You don't take arguably your biggest power threat out of the lineup unless that hammy completely goes, which as far as we know, it hasn't yet.  He'll play tomorrow.

Morse has always sucked in the outfield. We knew that going in.

He can suck as much as he wants so long as he hits. But popping out with the bases loaded when down by four runs is not acceptable. We'd be better off hitting Bernadina.

Ray Knight went over this post game.  The pitch he popped up was a perfect pitch for him to drive and it didn't happen.

It wasn't just Morse though.  There were a number of pitches that should have been destroyed and they were popped up.

Throw up softballs over the middle of the plate that should be destroyed?

Throws stuff with a lot of movement that everyone thinks they should be squaring up but can't.  That's what he does.

It looked like he wasn't even trying today. He was screwing the team in the outfield and the infield.
