Not a rookie. Completely different draft too. I'd still take Griffin over him too.

the point remains that they passed on him in favor of Beckman

Watching Wilson and Kaepernick in the playoffs made me wonder, why don't they ever get hit? I know they don't run quite as much as RGIII, but I didn't see either of them take even a knock, whereas Griffin would have gotten clobbered several times in a similar period of time.

they know how to slide and get out of bounds?

It seems like it's more than know-how. It's almost like Griffin thinks it's his job to get every last half-foot despite the impending impact with a 260lb linebacker bent on his destruction.

the most convincing explanation I've heard (granted filled with anecdotal evidence, arm couch psychology and pure speculation) is that Griffen was drafted to be the savior and he's trying to live up to the role while Wilson and Capernick were always expected to come along slowly and neither has the same degree of pressure, so they're more willing to give up the extra yard or two

Griffin will simply not last 5 years at the rate he's going.

Per espn,  Revis is on the market-he be a nice upgrade over hall (but then again so would every other starting cb in the nfl)

I have to say, Hall played much better down the stretch than he'd played all season. That said, we can do much better. Revis would be prohibitively expensive and thanks to Mara et al, we won't have the cap room or the trade chips. Pass. We do need an upgrade though, that's for sure.

Would either need the NFL to cancel the cap penalties, or the Redskins to do some massive cap space voodoo in order to get him. And we aren't exactly stocked with draft picks.

hall is $11 million alone if he goes

A silver lining to the salary cap penalty. Pass on this. Players coming off that injury usually take at least one season to return to regular form. Also, you'll have to pay a ton to make him happy. Each succeeding season, after another player gets paid, he'll demand to be paid even more money and will miss the entire preseason. And you have to give up a draft pick and Washington has very few of those anyway.

There are cap penalties for cutting people as well.

I agree. The cap penalty has made it impossible for Snyder to do his usual plethora of signings. Redskins have been forced to draft well.

hall can be dumped without a hit- restructuring his deal is why one of the reasons the redskins were punished in the first place

We could get Revis if we cut players like Jamaal Brown and Josh Wilson.  I mean, I wouldn't mind including our second round pick in a deal since that pick would probably be used on a DB anyway.

Having Revis, Talib (who we'll probably sign), and D-Hall as our top three corners is pretty nasty.

We won't get Revis though.  I doubt we have enough ammo to make the trade.

I'd love to see Brown gone. Been a failure since Day 1.

I think Revis and Asomugha will be cut. In which case, I'm down for some cap space voodoo and getting one or the other.

Hall is one of the (in 2011, the worst) corners in the NFL and wilson isn't much better. The team has other holes, and you can only draft so many players and expect them to start year one. Either free agents will have to be brought in, or you're going to have to accept massive holes

No argument from me there. But the idea of bringing in Revis (all things considered) and thinking that any tandem involving Hall is "pretty nasty" is moronic. Also, getting Asomugha would be incredibly dumb. Now I'm convinced that Dan Snyder posts here.

what's the alternative, hope multiple draft picks in the secondary (not to mention RT, MLB, and possibly OLB since Orakpo is in the last year of his contract) pan out?

To be fair, Haslett made some adjustments and they played much better. The defense as a whole was better after the bye week.
