I've been pleased with Ward...and he's the only guy we have who historically rings up better numbers in May than in October.

This.

Ward was signed for the Stanley Cup playoffs. Guys like him really come to forefront in the playoffs.

Vokoun couldn't be having a worse year. Theodore was never this bad here.

I can't believe McPhee freaked this up. We had all this goalie depth just a season or two ago and now we have arguably the worst goaltending situation in the NHL.

You can't blame McPhee for Vokoun. His signing was viewed as a steal by just about everyone in the hockey world. I'm not all that worried about Vokoun or Neuvirth. I'm more worried about the defense. Fix the defense and the goalies will look alot better.

yeah. vokoun isnt a long term commitment. we can always just make neuvy #1 and bring up holtby and be where we were last year. and and have the avs high pick. its a reversible process.

i'm not worried about this team. they are too talented to play like this all year. they are near 8th spot. any expected improvement will put them well inthe playoffs. FLA is playing over their heads. we will catch them. if TB was ahead of us, maybe not. i dont knowwhat is up with them.

just make the playoffs and it is a clean slate. ask the 2010 flyers

Agreed. This team has talent and I expect a trade or two prior to the deadline. Getting Mike Green back would be nice, but not sure what the timetable is for his return. #1 seed or #8 seed, it doesn't matter...just get to the playoffs.

Just get to the playoffs, and quit losing to Patrick Division teams.

Give me Neuvy and Holtby.

Holtby has been pretty average in Hershey this year. He might get killed behind this defense.

It's not the goaling, it's the lack of cleaning up by our defense. It's the same old story, D sucks. Thanks McPhee!

Exactly. The Caps have been horrid at clearing the puck out of their own zone this season. Vokoun has let in some softies, but I think the major problem is our defense and not being to get the puck out of our own zone. The goaltending will be fine once they figure out how to fix that. That's a problem that will get you eliminated quickly from the playoffs. The tight checking and grinding that comes in the playoffs have never been a strong point for the Ovechkin era Caps.

The lack of offense is staggering. This team was better when they just went full blast rodeo style. They generate no offense, few chances, nothing around the net. It's embarrassing

If we lose to the music city mutants, it's going to be a long couple of weeks with the Rangers and Sabres coming.

you never know what is going to show up though. they seem to collapse when they get behind or something doesnt go their way. but if they cash in first or god forbid get up 2-0, i could see them rolling

Spearing Jordin Tootoo in the nuts would be a smart thing to do in the first minute.

there is lots of talk about losing mike green and being 7-0 with him, but we also lost beagle at the same time. not sayin beagle is the savior but he gives us a non smurf option on the 4 th line. i thought the guy played well enough while he was there. hopefully he comes back soon and is good enough. it gives us a real 4th line and maybe a trickle up effect

I've never seen a team get behind as consistently as this Caps team. They never score early anymore

The days of regular 7-6 and 6-5 one-goal wins were certainly more exciting.

i am somewhat fearful we over corrected for some playoff losses. playing our old style we lost to the sc champs in 7 games and then lost in  7 games to the team that then upset the defending sc champs.  sometimes crap happens.  oh yeah. a second line center would help

I just don't understand why they can be so outplayed... Every game they're hemmed in their own zone, and when they finally get to play offense they're cleared out in 10 seconds. Why can't they see what the other team is doing, adapt it on defense and get used to it on offense?
