Matt Purke is healthy and ready to become a National: "I'm ready. Just give me a uniform and put me out there."

Quote
Among the highlights from his conversation with the Washington Times, Purke admitted that he was never 100 percent healthy at any point during his season for Texas Christian University this year said he's been on a throwing program all summer. His stamina, velocity and command have all come back and he's progressed to having thrown seven or eight bullpen sessions of 45-50 pitches in each session.

"Now, I basically have enough stamina to pitch two or three innings in a game," he said.

Lot's of other good stuff in the article.

A couple of comments from Kevin Goldstein following the draft, but before Purke's signing:

Quote
Matt Purke is still the biggest mystery of the draft; he entered this year with visions of being considered for the top overall pick. Blisters hampered him early, but then he developed shoulder problems, a far more concerning issues. He tried to pitch late in the year, but his stuff was nowhere close to what teams saw last year, when he want 16-0 for TCU.

I was very concerned about our glasses quotient tbh.

Purke does look like a total badass in the OP's picture on the right at the top of the page.

Purke is very intriguing indeed. That times article has me pretty excited about getting him and his recovery seems off to a good start. I dont think the importance of this draft for this franchise could be overstated if they all turn out well.

Purke Tweeted that he is on a plane to DC. I wonder if that means they are introducing the picks tonight.

The Washington Times article posted yesterday said they would introduce Purke at a press conference and then inform him privately whether he's going to Viera or Auburn. Press conference junkies, take note.

Well we'll probably find out later from NFA Brian. The press conference will just be "here's Matt Purke in a Nats jersey" and hammondsnats drooling all over the place.

Purke just discovered Twitter.  At the rate he's been cranking out the tweets, he's like to report it himself.
