Ayala never should have started this inning.  What a mess.

Soto can smash the ball. Good call on the walk. Ayala's probably out now.
Oh, ok.

Going to get O'Connor. Maybe Manny likes the match up. Beats me, though.
Why are we loading the bases with only one out when the batter has struck out three times tonight?

Maybe Ward will get taken out now, but I wouldn't mind facing him for the DP possibility.

To be honest I do not trust O'Connor in this situation in his second game since his call-up.

And it's not like O'Connor is a ground ball pitcher either.

Just watched Nieves' throw to make the double play on that stolen base attempt ... watched it three times consecutively, in fact!

Very true. He does K some guys, though.

He's releasing that ball way too early.

Ugh, O'Connor's pitching like a freaking head case.  Speigner redux.

Gotta get him out of there. Don't take the chance, Manny!

Utterly sickening.  I don't put as much blame on O'Connor there as I do Ayala.  Why Ayala was asked to start the 8th when either Rivera or O'Connor could've started it is beyond me.

Ball game.  Dumb moves by Manny.  Ayala should not have started, and you can't bring a guy you just called up in there.

Should have let him walk the first guy as a warmup. Jeez. Let him pitch around on that first walk, get his legs under him.

That was not a good time for O'Connor. It's his second relief appearance all year and Manny puts him in with the bases loaded in the 8th inning. That's just not good managing.

Blanco hitting .357? What world are we living in?

I hope this goes to extras and the Cubs lose just because of Piniella burning their bench.

Yeah, that whole team has been hitting this year. It's contagious when you're winning.

Piniella just wasted two PHers to get the match-up he wants. I guess he thinks this won't be going into extras.

ACTAvation - yep, I think the Cubs have really blown up their bench this inning. In fact, Gameday tells me their only remaining hitter is Felix Pie.
