An accident during a pegging could cause a similar effect.

Hopefully a tear

I'm hoping he has a full-on psychological breakdown

Just terrible games tonight.  No drama, bad umps, bad defense.

The one-game playoff is what it is, but I can totally see Joe West or one of his buddies totally freaking up a call and costing a team the game.  In the regular season, that sucks, but you blow it off and move on.  Not so with a one-game playoff.  This might be the instigator for more and more instant replay down the road.

This was a post I made nearly a year ago when MLB finalized the wildcard play-in game.  I was afraid that something like this might happen, and it only took one game.  To be honest, I don't think it was the wrong call but try telling that to a Barves fan.  It'll be interesting to see if there's any fallout.

I'm not working my way through the whole thread right now, but did anyone in the media question the Barves decision not to allow Medlen to start earlier in the year to avoid the Wild Card game??  Had he had a start or two against the Nats before the line up was healthy, the Braves might have picked up enough ground to win the division.  Holding him back instead of starting him early and using his innings in the regular season, like we did with Strasburg, could have avoided the one game play-in entirely.

Maybe they could not do that because the Barves lack the starting pitching depth the Nats have and would not have had a Cy Young candidate and two other pitchers with around a 3 ERA available to start,  But at least some media jerk should be a jerk to them like they've been to Rizzo.  Maybe FatKruk will mention this or Wussy Kaat will write an open letter.

WTF happened to the Braves D.

I'm reminded of what Carp and FP often say.   Some teams have good defensive stats because they can't get to a lot of playable balls.   The Braves got to 'em last night and either muffed them or threw them away.

Consensus seems to be the errors did the Braves in rather than 1 controversial call!
