Verizon Wireless Customers: Beware of New Fee
« Topic Start: December 29, 2011, 04:53:57 PM »
If you are a Verizon Wireless customer and pay your bill online or over the phone, beware that you will soon be charged a $2.00 "convenience" fee to do so.  Yes, you get charged for PAYING your bill on time now.

The fee is not charged if you use ACH or autopay.

I don't have Verizon, but I was thinking of switching in June, but this kind of thing ticks me off, even if I would use autopay anyway.

Or enroll in autopay or use ACH.  Still BS.

If you have a bank with online bill pay you can do that, but that still sucks.

That's why I pay everything in straight cash, homey.  Even my rent gets paid in greenbacks.

Yes, but according to the USPS you should WANT to get your statement.

They are just passing along the credit card company charge.  Lots of people want to put their bills on their cash back cards, but the payee bears the burden of the fees.  Just sign up for autopay or better yet pay via on-line banking and there's no problem.

I understand it, I pay with autopay through my credit card and end up with a little over $1 per month in cashback from that transaction

This is for if you pay with a credit card for a one time payment online or on the phone.

I assume it also applies if you use a debit card.

E-check is free.  why would you use a debit card rather than an e-check?

They also have reward systems associated with them.

Not wanting to pay the $2?

In my case, I don't have any credit cards any longer.  If I can't pay you in cash or a cash equivalent (check) I'm not doing business with you.

You ca set to autopay (for the fios bundle they made me) and not pay. I would want to switch to checks because I like cash back, but I hate debt, so I pay off the card every two weeks- almost the same as using checks when you consider the large between when you write them and when they clear

:lmao: Verizon, obviously surprised by the customer back lash, have decided that based on customer input the best option is to encourage other options without instituting a $2 fee.

Also, apparently the FCC was also going to open an investigation.

Hilarious.  Why banks and service providers keep trying to pull this crap and then are shocked when people rage over it is beyond me.

My guess is they aren't used to these series of tubes that spreads the information to the unwashed masses.

Here's the press release:

Quote
Verizon Wireless has decided it will not institute the fee for online or telephone single payments that was announced earlier this week.

The company made the decision in response to customer feedback about the plan, which was designed to improve the efficiency of those transactions. The company continues to encourage customers to take advantage of the numerous simple and convenient payment methods it provides.

"At Verizon, we take great care to listen to our customers. Based on their input, we believe the best path forward is to encourage customers to take advantage of the best and most efficient options, eliminating the need to institute the fee at this time," said Dan Mead, president and chief executive officer of Verizon Wireless.

Just goes to show you how out of touch these jerks are with the real world. They don't understand that we've all been nickled and dimed to death with taxes and fees. Everytime you turn around someone is trying to add another fee or tax.

LOL...exactly.

"Hey Verizon..I'm perfectly fine with you bending me over and screwing me in the ass without any lube. Thanks so much. Might I get more of that?"
