what does it mean if a ball is a can of corn? it's an easy play?

A high, easy-to-catch, fly ball hit to the outfield (also known as a Can of Peas).

What's a replacement team supposed to win? 46 games? So 29 to that would make the Nats a 75 win team.

Sounds about right.

48 I think. I did 48/162*(27+36), plus our hitting WAR, pitching WAR, and UZR/10.

The current record (43% wins) projects out to only 70 wins.

Game.
Nah.  Clippard's fly ball and strikeout combination makes him a great fit for Petco, not to mention the Padres' lineup.

whenever I see the old padres uniforms, I always think of 3 players...Dave Winfield, Ozzie Smith and pitcher Randy Jones

Which, incidentally, is what you're suppose to feel in your closer.  Not that I'm complaining about him pitching more innings in higher-leverage situations instead, but I bet we could trade him to a team in need of one for something really good.
