MoCo has more than a dusting already. It's really coming down. Weathermen can be so clueless.

People at work are :panic: :panic: :panic: right now.  It's still just a freaking dusting, less than an inch at least.

If you're terrified to drive anywhere in the snow, why did you spend money and take crappy fuel economy to get a 5000 lb 4WD SUV?

can you eat fish out of that lake. my only impression of its cleanliness was that old SNL commercial for Lake Erie Swill spring water or something like that

Erie is a lot cleaner than it used to be, and it has a viable commercial fishery, so obviously lots of folks are eating them.  Sabres fans mostly.  We almost never keep what we catch, however.  Just catch and release.

we got maybe a half inch to an inch in western prince william, it's tapering off now and the radar shows it moving away.

You see why I mocked you for using a ten-day forecast at one time.

I hope most of this crap melts tomorrow.

I understand that 48 hour models are the largest scale that they can create accurately, but temperature trends and snowfall amounts are two different things.

There's at least an inch and a half out there, it rained for a while, and now it's coming down in clumps. I hope we all get to stay home tomorrow.

Gogo Mazda 3!  Who needs 4WD :P

I love laughing at people that think 4WD = god mode.... As they sit in a ditch.

My rear wheel drive BMW works just fine on icy/snowy roads, given the right tires.

Yes, but BMW stunk on the Russian Front.

Porsche used to make the best model Panther, IIRC.

8" so far and it's still coming down up here.  Dug my way out and made it to work this morning.  The usual 10 minute drive took nearly 30 minutes but my Saturn Aura made it in.

People in my neighborhood did such a half-assed job shoveling that it all froze, so of course I slipped and set off my back pain.

I'm totally fine with that.

I bet my car has cost more to maintain and repair than most of those tanks did.

I think Zhukov approach to mine fields was "well, if they had defended it with machine guns, a lot of guys would have gotten shot when we advanced, so what difference does it make that a lot of guys get blown up going through the mine field."

Apparently the Russian mice and ratskis favoured the BMW wiring. I can relate, having had my first new car utterly destroyed by rodents (apparently Saturn's wire insulation and engine harnesses are made from peanut butter).

by the way, my memory was off. Porsche had the losing design for the Tiger. Henschel made the Tiger's chasis.  The Panther was a MAN design, but about 4 companies made the chassis - MAN, daimler-benz, Henschel, and another. the engine for both the tiger and the panther were Maybach.

hee hee this was the third time he's seen it. He was staring out the window in wonder when it was coming down in big gobs. I took him for a walk the first time and he was transfixed. He just loves it.

my kids are 10/7 so i'm not exactly a new dad, but the one thing we do every time it snows is pile up as much as we can in the front yard to make a "mount snowmore"

the one last year was well over 10' tall and was a great sledding hill until early March.
