I'd rather have a Kindle and one of those EEE tablets, might as well get a device that's the best at it's designed purpose.

Your phone is what, $500-600?  I'm not saying it's a screamer, but for a $250 tablet, it does ok.  I'd still rather have an iPad if they were the same price :P

Maybe without a contract, but no-contract phone prices are artificial and meaningless.  My phone cost $199 with a 2 year contract.  You can't get an iPad or Xoom anywhere near that cheaply, contract or no.

except for Virgin Mobile - a $100 adapter, $30 a month unlimited 3G. You end up dropping over a thousand with any other wireless modem.

You still pay $500 for the ipad though, is my point.  I don't really care about cellular access with a tablet, that's what my phone is for.

I think I'm just going to bite the bullet and get an iPad2 3G this week.  Yeah, I could pump more money into speculative investing or nose candy but dragging this laptop around sucks.

That's good, I'm going to cash out about $25K of gold holdings next week and blow it at the Borgata next week.

And probably still not as smooth as my Fascinate at 800mhz.

I'm glad you and Obed like yours, but I just wasn't impressed by the hardware.

Blackberry app selection and browser both stink, but the real killer for me was the horrible unrealibility of the 3G data connection.  Maybe I just got a bad unit, but the one they issued at work will take 5-10 minutes to regain a data connection if it loses it (which happens often since I work in a building that murders reception)

When I worked at VCU I had one of the early blue BlackBerrys that kicked ass.  Too bad since then (2004) BB has been a crapshow.

Fair enough - it was the worst excuse for an e-reader ever .The Nook Touch looks incredible, though.

You say hardware, but could it have been the software? I mean, you rooted it (or whatever you kids call it).

I doubt it, but it's certainly possible.  Just not sure how much of a difference it would make for the most basic things like scrolling a page.  It wasn't worth $250 for me to wait and find out.

Did you fllash it or just boot off the card?

I don't have hard numbers but there is noticable difference. The latest update also feels faster.

I don't know if this goes here, but I use Google Chrome, and over the past few weeks, I've gotten several messages saying that the Shockwave Flash player has crashed. Anyone else have this problem/know how to fix it?

If you have a your Google+ profile currently set to private, on July 31st it will be deleted. You have until then to make your details available and switch your account to public.

==================

The purpose of Google Profiles is to enable you to manage your online identity. Today, nearly all Google Profiles are public. We believe that using Google Profiles to help people find and connect with you online is how the product is best used. Private profiles don’t allow this, so we have decided to require all profiles to be public.

Keep in mind that your full name and gender are the only required information that will be displayed on your profile; you’ll be able to edit or remove any other information that you don’t want to share. If you currently have a private profile but you do not wish to make your profile public, you can delete your profile. Or, you can simply do nothing. All private profiles will be deleted after July 31, 2011.
