Yep- Desmond always gets bashed for his average, but it's higher than Werth or Espinosa - Morse and Zimmerman are the only guys who can hit ( with the occasional nix thrown in)
Desmond gets bashed for his batting average because it's terrible and he provides literally nothing else--almost no power, almost no walks.  He's one of the worst hitters in the NL.  Comparing him to Espinosa or even Werth is ridiculous.

Espo has fallen off the face of the earth. He was a solid contender for ROY at the All-star break. Now...I don't think he's in the top 3.

Based on what?  A bad two weeks?

You're right, hitting in the eighth spot the few times Desmond does get on base it's unlikely he'll get to home plate.

At least I get to go on vacation next week and not deal with watching this team day in and day out.

You think he's still a contender at this point for ROY? There's no doubt that he can get hot and still take the award, but I think it's gonna be an uphill battle now. He's cooled off, which is not uncommon at this point in the season for a rookie.

He still has the most WAR of any rookie--i.e., he has provided the most value to his team of any rookie.  So yes, I think he is still a contender.  People on this forum have short memories.

I'm just going to stop making gameday threads. 0-3 career barring a miracle here.

Well, at least we'll get to add two more runners left on base to the total.  :?

Just on our team I would think Ramos would be ahead of Espinosa at this point for RoY...

My biggest, and pretty much only issue with Morse is his inability to take a walk.

I don't know what the hell that thing is, but it's ugly. It probably scares children.

Well freak.  No cutting down of the old pine tree, no grainy beaver pelts.
