That web comic is by a formerly enlisted Marine, for Enlisted Marines. Some of us aren't the sharpest marbles LOL

Traditionally the Marine Corps attracts the most highly qualified recruits. I remember a fun little conversation I had at MEPS with this kid that was running his cock holster about him joining the Air Force because he was too smart to join the Marines. Ok, buddy..... you go have fun turning wrenches with your mid fifties ASVAB, I'm off to go be a cryptologic linguist, buh bye.

I scored a 95 and became an AAV crewman.  Guess I should've listened to my dad and done something I could use in the real world.

We're ASVAB twins lol. While the manlier MOS's get all the cool guy props I still got my CAR and also had the ability to tell the ladies (and later prove to them) that I was indeed a "cunning linguist".

I've been out of the Army about 42 years..   I know things have changed.   However, I simply can't figure the rationale for this.   Even my inclination to be a smart ass on the subject is numbed.   The techies have taken over the Defense Department.   In a way I hope Hagel gets confirmed and as an old decorated grunt the first thing he says is, "WTF is this is bullcrap gentlemen?"    More than anything, it is disrespectful to the people who do the face to face.

Amen

What's going to happen to the USO when everyone comes home?  Will they disband or what

I think they include Europe and Korea in that one. Plus the Navy/Marines take little sailing trips around the oceans

You freakin' one upper....

It's okay. I had to work for a guy who scored less than 30. He was a Master Guns. I'm not going to say that the TL comic, SNCO Syndrome, was inspired by him, but I'm not exactly saying it wasn't either.

BTW, for those of you complaining about TA being cut, please see Representative Mike Coffman's page. He says he's going to co-sponser a bill (HR 1039) to cut 500 milllion in foreign aid to Egypt and have it alloted to Tuition Assistance for the military.
