_______________________________________ ________________

In his last start, Chico lasted four innings and gave up six runs on eight hits
against the Braves. He walked three batters and struck out none. In his last
two starts, Chico has given up 11 runs in nine innings. On Monday, Chico
acknowledged he had nothing in the tank. He had a tough time throwing his
pitches for strikes. It got so bad in the third inning that Chico walked Tim
Hudson with the bases loaded.

Zambrano may want to only pitch at home. The right-hander is 3-0 with a
1.63 ERA in four starts at Wrigley Field this season. In his only road game
April 11 in Philadelphia, he took the loss. Big Z is coming off a win over the
New York Mets on Monday in which he gave up one run on five hits over
seven innings while striking out four. Zambrano is showing signs that he's
maturing. Instead of trying to overpower batters, he's focusing more on
locating his pitches. Zambrano said he learned that lesson from Greg Maddux.
That's a good teacher.

It's official: I'm not a bad luck charm.  I went down to DC to see the games on Thursday and Friday, and the Nats won them both 8)

If the Nats miraculously pull of a curly W today with Chico taking on Zambrano, I think that would soundly put talk of your gameday curse to rest.

in other headlining news: DUKES aka SUPERMAN is starting his rehab assignment tonight!!!  :woop: :woop:

Elijah Dukes to rehab with Potomac
Outfielder expected to make first start Saturday night in Frederick
By Anthony Oppermann / Potomac Nationals

WOODBRIDGE, Va.- The Washington Nationals have announced today that outfielder Elijah Dukes will begin a rehab stint with the Potomac Nationals beginning tonight in Frederick, Md., against the Keys.

The 23-year-old was placed on the 15-day disabled list March 31 after pulling a hamstring in the Washington Nationals inaugural game at Nationals Park the night before against the Atlanta Braves. Dukes was 0-for-2 in his only two at-bats. No timetable has been set for his return to Washington.

The Homestead, Fla., native was acquired on December 3 in exchange for left-hander Glenn Gibson. He hit .190 with 10 home runs and 21 RBI in 2007 with the Tampa Bay Rays. Before being placed on the temporary inactive list June 22, Dukes was tied with Cincinnati's Josh Hamilton for most home runs hit by a rookie in the Major Leagues. He and Alex Gordon, who hit 23 homers, were the only two American League rookies to reach double-digits in homers.

Dukes has been lauded for his athletic ability since being drafted in the third round in 2002 out Hillsborough High School in Tampa, Fla. From 2004 to 2006 he was ranked as one of the top ten prospects in the Rays organization by Baseball America. Coming into 2005 as the fifth-rated prospect in the Tampa Bay farm system, Dukes batted .287 with a career-best 128 hits and cranked 18 home runs while driving in 73 runs in 120 games with the Montgomery Biscuits of the Double-A Southern League. He hit .332 with eight home runs and 34 RBI the season before in a 58-game stint at the Advanced-A level with the California League's Bakersfield Blaze after beginning the season with the Low-A Charleston River Dogs.

Dukes becomes the third member of the Washington Nationals to rehab with Potomac already this season. He joins right-handers Shawn Hill and Chad Cordero.

After dropping the opener of the three-game series with Frederick, right-hander Adrian Alaniz (1-0, 3.60) will get the start opposite righty Kyle Schmidt (1-0, 5.40). First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. at Harry Grove Stadium.

Dukes grounded out, popped out and walked in 3 ABs today for Potomac.  He lead-off at DH and got caught stealing after drawing a walk.

If we lose, idiot, it'll be because a starter whom you yourself said will never be anything more than mediocre was going against a Cy Young candidate.

Dukes grounded out, popped out and walked in 3 ABs today for Potomac like an electrifying stud.  He lead-off at DH and got caught stealing after drawing a walk....with freakish ability.

Fixed.

Amazing that a fan of Belliard can extoll the virtues of plate patience.

Thank you, Ray Knight. He says that the only reason Lo Duca will be up here is because we have so much money invested in him.  He also said that he just cannot imagine how they can send Nieves down.

I'd blamed it on tha catchers(mostly on Flores for pitch selection) but i'm startin to realize its Chico's fault.
