5-7, 4.61 ERA

(SS) Rafael Furcal

(RF) Matt Kemp
(2B) Jeff Kent
(LF) Andre Ethier
(SC) Russell Martin
(1B) James Loney
(3B) Ramon Martinez
(SP) Derek Lowe

Felipe Lopez (SS)
Nook Logan (CF)
Ryan Zimmerman (3B)
Dmitri Young (1B)
Austin Kearns (RF)
Wily Mo Pena (LF)
Ronnie Belliard (2B)
Brian Schneider (SC)
Mike Bacsik (SP)

_______________________________________ ______________

Bacsik had a strong outing against the Astros but still lost on Wednesday. He went six innings
and allowed three runs on six hits and a walk, striking out four, but the Nats lost, 3-2.

After going eight starts without a win, Lowe has a two-game winning streak going. Even
if he's still bothered by a hip or groin problem, his sinker doesn't seem to be hampered,
as he's getting ground balls by the dozens. He's now reached double figures in victories
six consecutive years.

Lowe's won his last 3 appearances against the Nats, including that 5-0 game last time. Sinkerballer's are tough, especially when you don't have the best contact team out there. Hopefully we figure him out.

I look at that 10-11 record for Lowe and I have to hold out hope that, whatever all those teams have done to him to get those 11 losses, we can do too!

Now I understand why ESPN is saying this; the Dodgers do really need a great hitter.  However, their entire lineup is very, very solid, and Bacsik will probably wear down, giving up 5 in 4 or something.  But I do think our relievers will have success tonite.  You heard all that here first.

You are sure going out on a limb.

Anyways, the Fish lost yet again so we have another chance to move 2 games ahead of them.

Are you sure Kent is starting? He got hit near his face yesterday and looked a bit shook up.

Got the lineup from SI.com, I'm positive.

Those top three in their lineup could definitely be a problem. Speed seems to kill us.

I'm thinking we pull out a close 3-2 game.

Sinkerballers have always owned this team for some reason.  Let's hope we can break out against Lowe tonight.

Yep, we've sucked against Webb, Lowe, etc.

Oh no!  Buckle up. Bascik's up tonight.  I like him personally, but think he's better in the bullpen and not as a starter.  He needs more work to be a starter.

Two quick ones for Lowe.  I remember him with the Red Sox when I was a fan...I always considered him mediocre.  Now I feel differently.

I'm psyched...I get to listen to Vin Scully call the game on MLB.TV.  Scully is the greatest baseball announcer of all-time IMO.  Although he annoyed me by saying that F-Lo and Zimmerman were both "robbed of base hits".  Bull crap, don't wet yourself because your IFers made plays on grounders...

But he's still awesome

Wow, Bacsik is the fourth lowest pitcher in terms of walk per 9.  First three: CC Sabathia, Johan Santana, Mark Buerhle.

And of course he walks the first man.
