Comparing the Nats to the rest of the league our offense is 27th in runs, total bases, and OPS, which is no surprise, but what I don't understand is how our defense can be ranked 27th according to the efficiency ratio on the MLB site. Aren't teams with bad offenses supposed to compensate with good defense? How can our players possibly suck at everything they do?
